Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) had a few choice words about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) landmark climate-change bill after its passage Friday. When asked why he read portions of the cap-and-trade bill on the floor Friday night, Boehner told The Hill, "Hey, people deserve to know what's in this pile of s--t..." I think that pretty well sums up the "cap-and-trade" bill! It's going to cause us to be more dependant on foreign sources of energy. It's going to cost jobs and, most importantly, it's going to hit everyone big time in the wallet!

Symbols of communism and marijuana and a prediction that "capitalism will fail" aren't exactly the sort of end-of-year messages you'd expect from an eighth grader.

But that's precisely what some students at the Black Pine Circle School, a private school in Berkeley, Calif., chose to include in their "Class of 2007" mosaic...

This doesn't surprise me coming out of Berkeley. The people out there have always loved communism more than they do freedom! Sadly, the children out there clearly haven't been taught about the founding of this great nation or the great men that put it together and what they risked to do so. The fact that a child would know more about and admire the likes of the USSR(the Soviet Union), Stalin, Lenin, Castro, and Che Guevara(all of which are communists who murdered millions of people), than they do about The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, The Boston Tea Party, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Paine, et. al(all of which risked everything they had to create the freest and greatest nation ever devised by man) is not just sad and tragic, but also, disgusting!

Hot off the press is my colleague Dr. Thomas Sowell's 43rd book, "The Housing Boom and Bust." The book is an eye-opener for anyone interested in the truth about the collapse of the housing market that played a major role in our financial market crisis.

The root of the problem lies in Washington. The Community Reinvestment Act of 1977, later given teeth during the Bush and Clinton administrations, forced financial institutions to make risky mortgage loans they otherwise would not have made. President Clinton's Attorney General Janet Reno threatened legal action against lenders whose racial statistics raised her suspicions. Bank loan qualification standards, in general, came under criticism as being too stringent regarding down payments, credit histories, and income. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two government-sponsored enterprises, by lowering their standards for the kinds of mortgage paper they would purchase from banks and other mortgage lenders, gave financial institutions further incentive to make risky loans...

But Barney Fwank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Watters, et. al., said that Fannie and Freddie were fine! Just a reminder for those that may not know Dr. Sowell or may want to argue with him, he is a Senior Fellow at The Hoover Institute at Stanford Universtity and Professor of Economics .

Empathy Versus Law

President Obama's articulated criteria for his nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court is: "We need somebody who's got the heart to recognize -- the empathy to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom, the empathy to understand what it's like to be poor or African-American or gay or disabled or old. And that's the criteria by which I'm going to be selecting my judges..."

A judge is supposed to be dispassionate, rule on the law and on the merits of the case. They are not to rule based on how they "feel" or to legislate from the bench.

Move Update

For those of you who care or are interested, my efforts to move to the Jacksonville, FL area are still progressing. I have been to a professional resume writer to help me with my disaster of a resume. Having now seen the product she has developed for me, it is clear why my old resume never got me anywhere! She has also written a couple cover letters for me to go along with the resumes. All of these are now posted on careerbuilder.com, monster.com, yahoojobs.com, etc. I've sent out several copies already to various companies and firms. Hopefully they will produce something soon. My goal is to be moved or in the process of moving by the beginning of October.

Yes, I am working on a law enforcement career down there as well. I've submitted an application to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. I'm in the process of finishing an application to submit to the St. John's County Sheriff's Office when I go down next month for a week to do some job hunting. I am also working on submitting all the required information to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in order to gain my equivalency with them so as to not have to go through their entire academy process.

On the housing front, I've obtained a preliminary approval for a home loan in order to buy something. The catch is, I have to have gain employment in order to get full approval for the loan. This isn't that big a deal though. I need to have a job before I can proceed with anything else.

So, that's where things stand at present. I'll keep everyone updated as things progress.

What to call black people has to be confusing to white people. Having been around for 73 years, I have been through a number of names. Among the polite ones are: colored, Negro, Afro-American, black, and now African-American. Among those names, African-American is probably the most unintelligent. You say, "What do you mean, Williams?" Suppose I told you that I had a European-American friend or a South-America-American friend, or a North-America-American friend. You'd probably say, "Williams, that's stupid. Europe, South America and North America are continents consisting of many peoples." You might insist that I call my friend from Germany a German-American instead of European-American and my friend from Brazil a Brazilian-American rather than a South-America-American and my friend from Canada a Canadian-American instead of a North-American. So would not the same apply to people whose heritage lies on the African continent? For example, instead of claiming that President Barack Obama is the first African-American president, it should be that he's the first Kenyan-American president. In that sense, Obama is lucky. Unlike most American blacks, he knows his national heritage; the closest to a national heritage the rest of us can identify is some country along Africa's gold coast...

It seems to me that people are not remembering, let alone applying, the statement by Dr. King that people be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. The other thing about this is the hyphenated Americanism taking place today. I am an AMERICAN! John Wayne has an excellent dialog about this. I highly recommend that eveyone find this and listen to it.

Fraud in Academia

Soon college students will come home and present parents with their grades. To avoid delusion, parents should do some serious discounting because of rampant grade inflation. If grade inflation continues, a college bachelor's degree will have just as much credibility as a high school diploma.

Writing for the National Association of Scholars, Professor Thomas C. Reeves documents what is no less than academic fraud in his article "The Happy Classroom: Grade Inflation Works." From 1991 to 2007, in public institutions, the average grade point average (GPA) rose, on a four-point scale, from 2.93 to 3.11. In private schools, the average GPA climbed from 3.09 to 3.30. Put within a historical perspective, in the 1930s, the average GPA was 2.35 (about a C-plus); whereby now it's a B-plus.

Academic fraud is rife at many of the nation's most prestigious and costliest universities. At Brown University, two-thirds of all letter grades given are A's. At Harvard, 50 percent of all grades were either A or A- (up from 22 percent in 1966); 91 percent of seniors graduated with honors. The Boston Globe called Harvard's grading practices "the laughing stock of the Ivy League." Eighty percent of the grades given at the University of Illinois are A's and B's. Fifty percent of students at Columbia University are on the Dean's list. At Stanford University, where F grades used to be banned, only 6 percent of student grades were as low as a C...

Things that make you go, hmmmm and at the same time, laugh at the hypocrisy that is academia today! Oh, just a reminder, for those this may not sit well with, Dr. Williams is a PROFESSOR at George Mason University.

I may not be posting as much for a little while. I have decided to move to the Jacksonville/St. Augustine area of FL. I have to get things together to do that. Not least of which is get a job and find a place to live. I'll try to post things on occassion. I will be back up and running on a regular basis once the move is complete.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry rattled cages when he suggested that Texans might at some point become so disgusted with Washington's gross violation of the U.S. Constitution that they would want to secede from the union. Political hustlers, their media allies and others, who have little understanding, are calling his remarks treasonous. Let's look at it.

When New York delegates met on July 26, 1788, their ratification document read, "That the Powers of Government may be resumed by the People, whensoever it shall become necessary to their Happiness; that every Power, Jurisdiction and right which is not by the said Constitution clearly delegated to the Congress of the United States, or the departments of the government thereof, remains to the People of the several States, or to their respective State Governments to whom they may have granted the same..."

A truly thought provoking article by Dr. Williams. Being a big believer in states rights I am in total agreement with Dr. Williams. Some may say this was settled by the Civil War, but when I look at what the Founders said I say, yes it has been settled, but not how most would say.

The New York Times reported last week that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, was waterboarded 183 times in one month by CIA interrogators. The "183 times" was widely circulated by news outlets throughout the world.

It was shocking. And it was highly misleading. The number is a vast inflation, according to information from a U.S. official and the testimony of the terrorists themselves...

...The Times and dozens of other outlets wrote that the CIA also waterboarded senior Al Qaeda member Abu Zubaydah 83 times, but Zubayda himself, a close associate of Usama bin Laden, told the Red Cross he was waterboarded no more than 10 times...

Seems that the NY Times, once again, can't get its facts correct. The paper that was once "the nations paper of record" has become nothing more than cheap bird cage liner. Only libs who want to APPEAR intellectual and thoughtful and be part of the "in crowd" subscribe to this rag. I doubt if even they really read much if any of the crap in it. The Old Grey Lady will soon be The Dead Grey Lady.

From the moment she opened her mouth, Prejean has given liberals a clinic in class. Hilton, on the other hand (a.k.a. Mario Armando Lavandeira), has provided the world a sneak peek into the soul of homosexual activism...

...This whole hateful affair provides the perfect metaphor for the current divide between defenders of traditional sexual morality and the extremist “queer” activist movement. As Congress debates the constructive repeal of both the Fourteenth Amendment guarantee of “equal protection under the law” and the First Amendment guarantees of free speech and freedom of religion through passage of discriminatory and wholly unnecessary “hate crimes” legislation, this little episode once again reminds us that the self-described champions of “tolerance” and “diversity” are the most intolerant and hateful among us...

Ms. Prejean is the type of lady that, if I had I daughter, I'd point to as someone to admire and look up to! As the writer of this article stated, she has been total class through out this. Those opposing what she said have been totally classless!

Monckton told Climate Depot that the Democrats rescinded his scheduled joint appearance at the House Energy and Commerce hearing on Friday. Monckton said he was informed that he would not be allowed to testify alongside Gore when his plane landed from England Thursday afternoon.

I've said it many times, Al Gore has ozone for brains! The man puts out a nonsensical book(yes, I've read it and it's incredibly easy to blow holes in, which MANY people have) and a nonsensical movie and people fall all over themselves to laud the garbage, without thinking or exposing them to any serious examination.

If Gore is so sure and confident of his position, then why is he such a coward and refuses to publicly debate someone with an opposing perspective? I say there are 2 reasons. One, he knows that he will get crushed and he can't allow that to happen. That would lead to reason two, his house of cards would come crashing down. He would be exposed for the fraud he is!

Things got testy Wednesday at the GE shareholders meeting courtesy of several complaints about political bias at its media division, NBC Universal...

...First up was a woman asking about a reported meeting in which Immelt and NBC Uni CEO Jeff Zucker supposedly told top CNBC executives and talent to be less critical of President Obama and his policies...

...During the woman's follow-up question, her microphone was cut off. Later, during the umpteenth question about MSNBC, another shareholder's microphone was cut, according to multiple attendees...

I wish I'd have been there! I would have loved to have seen this take place. Immelt is a leftwing hack and an Obama toady. He was appointed to some commission by BHO as repayment for NBC's unquestioning support during the election. When you look at his pathetic leadership, it's no wonder that NBC is a distant third in network ratings and fading, their cable nets(especially PMSnbc) are getting crushed and GE's stock is in the toilet.

NBC is Pathetic!

People complain about Foxnews, but give the Peacock a pass. NBC has quite literally become Pravda(if you're uneducated and don't know what this is, LOOK IT UP!) for the Obama Administration.

Democracy and Majority Rule

Democracy and majority rule give an aura of legitimacy to acts that would otherwise be deemed tyranny. Think about it. How many decisions in our day-to-day lives would we like to be made through majority rule or the democratic process? How about the decision whether you should watch a football game on television or "Law and Order"? What about whether you drive a Chevrolet or a Ford, or whether your Easter dinner is turkey or ham? Were such decisions made in the political arena, most of us would deem it tyranny. Why isn't it also tyranny for the democratic process to mandate what type of light bulbs we use, how many gallons of water to flush toilets or whether money should be taken out of our paycheck for retirement?

The founders of our nation held a deep abhorrence for democracy and majority rule. In Federalist Paper No. 10, James Madison wrote, "Measures are too often decided, not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor party, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority." John Adams predicted, "Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There was never a democracy yet that did not commit suicide." Our founders intended for us to have a republican form of limited government where the protection of individual God-given rights was the primary job of government...

Sadly, a great many people in this country, as viewed by who is now in elected office, either don't know or don't care what our Founding Fathers said. Many of those that don't care think that way because they believe they are smarter than the Founders, or have convinced themselves that, despite what they wrote, the Founders would do it differently today.

We also have not had leaders often enought, during the last 100 years, that stood up for limited government and preservation of our God-given rights! The progressivist ideas that began seeping in to the government during Presidents Teddy Roosevelt's and Woodrow Willson's terms have taken firm root in and been expanded by the Democrats and the left.

Sand vs Rock?!?!?!

Not exactly the rock that Christ was talking about. Oh, if he wants to quote Christ, then he should give proper credit and not be ashamed to stand in front of a pediment monogrammed with Christ's name!
