The Reds will have a lot of new faces in the lineup on Opening Day. For the first time since 2001, neither Ken Griffey Jr. nor Adam Dunn will be there to start the season.

For good or ill, Griffey and Dunn were the faces of this franchise. It was mostly ill: The Reds haven't had a winning season since 2000. The club decided to change course last summer, trading away both Griffey and Dunn.

So who will be the new and future faces of the franchise?...

I am really looking forward to watching these young guys play. I think they are excited to be here and want to win, badly. Though I did enjoy watching Dunn and Griffey I questioned whether they truly wanted it badly enough or were content to be where they were.

I don't know if this team will be the "next Tampa Bay" or not, but I do believe that they are going to play hard and give it their all.

Obama Wants to Control the Banks

There's a reason he refuses to accept repayment of TARP money.

I must be naive. I really thought the administration would welcome the return of bank bailout money. Some $340 million in TARP cash flowed back this week from four small banks in Louisiana, New York, Indiana and California. This isn't much when we routinely talk in trillions, but clearly that money has not been wasted or otherwise sunk down Wall Street's black hole. So why no cheering as the cash comes back?

My answer: The government wants to control the banks, just as it now controls GM and Chrysler, and will surely control the health industry in the not-too-distant future. Keeping them TARP-stuffed is the key to control. And for this intensely political president, mere influence is not enough. The White House wants to tell 'em what to do. Control. Direct. Command...

This is exactly what socialism is and what people like myself warned against during the election. He and his sycophants want to control every aspect of the economy and determine who gets to make good. Hugo Chavez and the Castro Brothers in Cuba couldn't do it any better. I'm sure they are loving watching every minute of this too!

Most of our nation's great problems, including our economic problems, have as their root decaying moral values. Whether we have the stomach to own up to it or not, we have become an immoral people left with little more than the pretense of morality. You say, "That's a pretty heavy charge, Williams. You'd better be prepared to back it up with evidence!" I'll try with a few questions for you to answer.

Do you believe that it is moral and just for one person to be forcibly used to serve the purposes of another? And, if that person does not peaceably submit to being so used, do you believe that there should be the initiation of some kind of force against him? Neither question is complex and can be answered by either a yes or no. For me the answer is no to both questions but I bet that your average college professor, politician or minister would not give a simple yes or no response. They would be evasive and probably say that it all depends...

There are absolutes, black and white, right and wrong! Moral absolutes do exist. Our founding documents are based on this belief.

House Republicans Call for Stimulus Repeal in Budget Plan

House Republicans are calling for the economic stimulus package passed in February to be rescinded starting in 2010 as part of their alternative to President Obama's budget blueprint...

...The GOP plan also proposes major changes to the tax code. It would allow taxpayers to either file under the current system or choose a simpler option: Individuals earning $50,000 or less, and couples earning $100,000 or less, would be taxed at 10 percent. The rate for income above $100,000 would be 25 percent...

I, personally, favor the Fair Tax proposal. It is the best proposal that I have seen. Among it's plans is the repeal of the 16th Amendment and the institution of a sales/consumption tax. I definitely recommend that, if you haven't already investigated it, you should look into the Fair Tax.

I’m just not crazy about what he's doing and I heard all about this, and he’s gonna do that and change and change, so okay … I'm still dressing for a recession over here buddy and we've got unemployment at an all-time high and that was his number one thing and that's the thing I really don't appreciate. If I'm going to disagree with my President, that doesn't make me a racist. If I was to disagree with W, that doesn't make me racist. It has nothing to do with it, it is ridiculous..."

Forget it Ms Harmon. You're not dealing with intellect! You should know better than anyone that most people in your industry aren't the brightest bulbs in the bunch.

States Rebellion Pending

Our Colonial ancestors petitioned and pleaded with King George III to get his boot off their necks. He ignored their pleas, and in 1776, they rightfully declared unilateral independence and went to war. Today it's the same story except Congress is the one usurping the rights of the people and the states, making King George's actions look mild in comparison. Our constitutional ignorance -- perhaps contempt, coupled with the fact that we've become a nation of wimps, sissies and supplicants -- has made us easy prey for Washington's tyrannical forces. But that might be changing a bit. There are rumblings of a long overdue re-emergence of Americans' characteristic spirit of rebellion.

Eight state legislatures have introduced resolutions declaring state sovereignty under the Ninth and 10th amendments to the U.S. Constitution; they include Arizona, Hawaii, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Washington. There's speculation that they will be joined by Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, Maine and Pennsylvania...

Restoration of the 9th and 10th Amendments is long over due. For that matter, proper interpretation and application of The Constitution is long over due, but especially when it comes to these 2 amendments.

Knowing that so few people actually know, our understand what they say, here are these 2, verbatim.

"AMENDMENT IX(9) - The enumeration in the Constitution f of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."

"AMENDMENT X(10) - The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

The Founders said the following: "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite."

Obama’s False Choice

A “chaotic and unforgiving capitalism” is exactly what we need right now.

Writing in the Chicago Tribune last week, President Obama fell back on one of his favorite rhetorical tics: “But I also know,” he wrote, “that we need not choose between a chaotic and unforgiving capitalism and an oppressive government-run economy. That is a false choice that will not serve our people or any people.”

Really? For the moment, it’s a “false choice” mainly in the sense that he’s not offering it: “a chaotic and unforgiving capitalism” is not on the menu, which leaves “an oppressive government-run economy” as pretty much the only game in town. How oppressive is yet to be determined: To be sure, the official position remains that only “the richest five percent” will have taxes increased. But you’ll be surprised at the percentage of Americans who wind up in the richest five percent. This year federal government spending will rise to 28.5 per cent of GDP, the highest level ever, with the exception of the peak of the Second World War. The 44th president is proposing to add more to the national debt than the first 43 presidents combined, doubling it in the next six years, and tripling it within the decade. But to talk about it in percentages of this and trillions of that misses the point. It’s not about bookkeeping, it’s about government annexation of the economy, and thus of life: government supervision, government regulation, government control. No matter how small your small business is — plumbing, hairdressing, maple sugaring — the state will be burdening you with more permits, more paperwork, more bureaucracy...

We do not need socialistic programs or control in this country! That's not what this country was founded or built on. Might I suggest that if you don't want to pay your own way and want the government to be your nanny, move to a country that already has that. Stop trying to change this country in to something that it is not and was not intended to be!

Murtha Award Sparks Vet Outrage

In one of his last moves before leaving office March 13, then-Navy Secretary Donald Winter quietly awarded 19-term Democratic congressman John Murtha (Pa.) with the service's highest civilian honor.

Citing Murtha's "courageous leadership, vision, and loyalty to the men and women of the Department of the Navy," Winter presented the influential chairman of the House Appropriations Committee's defense panel with the Navy's Distinguished Public Service Award, an honor bestowed in "those extraordinary cases where individuals have demonstrated exceptionally outstanding service of substantial and long term benefit to the Navy, Marine Corps, or the Department of the Navy as a whole," a Murtha release stated.

The award generated little publicity when it was given to Murtha in early March, but as news of the honor trickled out, some veterans groups ignited a firestorm of protest...

This is absolutely disgusting! It is a slap in the face to all those who have bravely served this country protecting the freedoms so many of us take for granted. The fact that the morons in Murtha's district would return this waste of human flesh to Congress is an affront to these brave men and women.

I don't care if he did serve himself. He is a disgrace and an embarrassment to the uniform he once wore!

DEAR Mr. Liddy,

It is with deep regret that I submit my notice of resignation from A.I.G. Financial Products. I hope you take the time to read this entire letter. Before describing the details of my decision, I want to offer some context:

I am proud of everything I have done for the commodity and equity divisions of A.I.G.-F.P. I was in no way involved in — or responsible for — the credit default swap transactions that have hamstrung A.I.G. Nor were more than a handful of the 400 current employees of A.I.G.-F.P. Most of those responsible have left the company and have conspicuously escaped the public outrage...

What has been done to this gentleman and those he works with is appalling! The fact that they have been targeted for vilification and even destruction by the likes of Barney "My Boy Lolly Pop" Frank, Andrew Cuomo(D-NY AG), and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn AG) is not only reprehensible, it should scare the daylites out of everyone!

Not only are they targets of government officials, but they have become targets for the likes of ACORN and the service workers union. The protests in front of these peoples homes, the bus tours past them and those at AIG HQ are not spontaneous. They are being organized and led by ACORN and SEIU.

These organizations are going in to poor neighborhoods and picking up people and taking them to these sites and then ginning up the anger and malice that is being seen. What is more disgusting is that they are doing so using our tax dollars which they received through the "stimulous" and omnibus spending bills.

These and other similar organizations received billions of our tax dollars as repayment for their work in getting Obama elected. The amount of money being paid to the various AIG execs pails in comparison to the amount just handed over to ACORN, SEIU, et. al.

It's time that anger and disgust be focused in the proper direction, Washington D.C. and various state capitals for their misappropriation of our money. These are the people that deserve our scorn and contempt. Not private citizens!

I'm not Catholic so I may need a little enlightening on this one. Why in the world would a CATHOLIC PRIEST, as President of a CATHOLIC university, representing the CATHOLIC CHURCH, invite some one who is COMPLETELY at odds with CATHOLIC teaching?

As a Baptist my views on life are that it starts at the moment of conception. For a reference point I will give you, Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed thee in embryo I knew thee; and before thou wast born I sanctified thee,..." (Websters Bible Translation). Knowing that the Catholic Church holds the same belief I and my Church do on this, I find it rather astonishing that a man who is "God's man" and charged with teaching the Word of God would make such an invitation.

Will nails it! There are a great many of our elected officials working to trash The Constitution. Sadly, there are a large number of people in this country who are encouraging this or just don't care.

Former U.S. Border Patrol agent Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos wakes up in the middle of the night expecting a guard to shine a flashlight in his face. Jose Alonso Compean, his colleague, still has nightmares that he's not really home.

It has not been easy readjusting to life outside their one-man prison cells, where they spent the last two years of their lives in segregation...

Being in law enforcement myself, I find what was done to them reprehensible! The P.O.S. that they shot was here illegally, bringing in illicit drugs and was known to carry a weapon with him at all times. The fact that our government spent our tax dollars to go and bring that worthless shred of human debris back to this country to testify against our law enforcement agents, giving him immunity to do so, is infandous(too odious to be expressed or mentioned)! The fact that his word was given any weight against that of law enforcement agents is equally as infandous. It's too bad that the bullet didn't hit him several inches higher and cleans the gene pool of this garbage!

Ask the average person which is the correct answer to the following question: Which president gave the biggest tax cuts for the rich -- Reagan or Bush? I would bet the rent money that you would not get the correct response, which is: Presidents have no taxing authority. Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution says: "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises." I know that many politicians and news media people read my column. How do we characterize them if they continue to speak of presidents cutting or raising taxes?

Another tax question: If there's an imposition of a property tax on your land, who pays the tax? I guarantee you that land does not pay taxes; only people pay taxes. That means a tax on your land is a tax on you. You say, "Williams, that's pretty elementary, isn't it?" But what do you say to a politician or news media people who propose increasing corporate taxes as means to get rich corporations to pay their rightful share of government? They should be told that they speak nonsense because corporations, like land, do not pay taxes; only people pay taxes...

Surprisingly, there are a great many people who do not understand this concept! I've said for a long time now that if people had to actually make out a check each week for the taxes that are currently automatically deducted there'd be an instant revolt. The majority of people do not look at their pay stub and really take in how much of their wealth is being confiscated! Most people walk through life blissfully ignorant!

Often in the NCAA men's basketball tournament, a big-conference team can intimidate a mid-major merely by the name on its uniform.

The Ohio States, Kansases and Pittsburghs are regulars on national television. Mid-majors toil in obscurity and can become flustered when they take the court with the big names.

That will not be an issue for the Siena Saints when they play Ohio State in a first-round Midwest regional game Friday night...

I expect Siena to play a good game, but if we play up to our talent this should be a victory for the Scarlet and Gray.

Hmmm, I thought that the "stimulus" was going to allow Cat to hire more people, not lay more off. That's what the Pres. told us! Lest we forget though, Cat's CEO said this wasn't the case. The Pres. and the Dems in Congress sold everyone a bill of goods that they can't fullfill and is going to have our great-grandchildren in debt!

The kids of Congress members and the President can go to the best schools in DC, but the heck with "the commoner!" FYI, there were children going to Sidwell Friends School, where the Presidents and several Congress members children attend, thanks to vouchers, but not any more! They have to cow tow to the teachers unions!

During winter months, I work out 10 minutes on the treadmill and lift weights at seven stations four mornings a week. Over the years, during the spring through fall months, I racked up about 2,000 miles on my road bike. This level of exercise helps account for why, at 73 years, I'm in such good health and physical fitness. So my question to you is whether you think regular exercise is a good idea. I think the answer is definitely yes, if nothing other than its beneficial effects on health care costs. Since exercise is a good idea, would you support a congressional mandate that all Americans engage in regular exercise?...

...You say, "Aha, Williams, you've blown it this time. What about Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, which says Congress shall provide for the 'general welfare of the United States.'? Surely, healthy Americans contribute to the nation's general welfare." That's precisely the response I'd expect from your average law professor, congressman or derelict U.S. Supreme Court justice. Let's look at what the men who wrote the Constitution had to say about its general welfare clause. In a letter to Edmund Pendleton, James Madison, the father of the Constitution, said, "If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one ..." Madison also said, "With respect to the two words "general welfare," I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators." Thomas Jefferson said, "Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those specifically enumerated."...

Only someone who believes that America is on the crest of a dangerous historic wave - and that he “can help guide it” - would have undertaken a glitzy world tour midway through the campaign...

It is a manifesto to usher in a new age of government activism that involves levels of borrowing and spending never before seen in the US and is a document of such staggering ambition and risk that even some of Mr Obama's Democratic supporters are suddenly beginning to feel a little queasy...

...The markets are so unnerved about Mr Obama's ability to rescue the financial sector, and by the numerous bailouts that have had little effect, that wealth is being destroyed on Wall Street at a rate not seen since the 1930s. The President said on Tuesday that he does not worry about “the day-to-day gyrations of the stock market”, but investors have made it clear that his economic prescriptions have so far failed to reassure them...

President Obama's newly named Economic Recovery Advisory Board, the real-world Americans being asked to help solve the nation's financial crisis, includes a union executive who took the Fifth in a federal probe, a billionaire whose failed bank pioneered the subprime mortgage market, and deep-pocket donors who gave or gathered nearly $1.2 million for the president's campaign.

In all, 11 of the 16 board members donated or raised money for Democrats in the last election, according to a Washington Times review of campaign finance records. They include the president and chief operating officer of the American arm of UBS Investment Bank, the Swiss-based bank now at the center of a widening tax evasion probe by the Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service.

In announcing the board's creation, Mr. Obama described its members as "distinguished citizens outside the government" who were qualified on the basis of achievement, experience, independence and integrity to "bring a diverse set of perspectives and voices from different parts of the country and different sectors of the economy to bear in the formulation and evaluation of economic policy..."

I thought this was going to be the most ethical and transparent administration this country has ever had?!

Government health care advocates used to sing the praises of Britain's National Health Service (NHS). That's until its poor delivery of health care services became known. A recent study by David Green and Laura Casper, "Delay, Denial and Dilution," written for the London-based Institute of Economic Affairs, concludes that the NHS health care services are just about the worst in the developed world. The head of the World Health Organization calculated that Britain has as many as 25,000 unnecessary cancer deaths a year because of under-provision of care. Twelve percent of specialists surveyed admitted refusing kidney dialysis to patients suffering from kidney failure because of limits on cash. Waiting lists for medical treatment have become so long that there are now "waiting lists" for the waiting list.

Government health care advocates sing the praises of Canada's single-payer system. Canada's government system isn't that different from Britain's. For example, after a Canadian has been referred to a specialist, the waiting list for gynecological surgery is four to 12 weeks, cataract removal 12 to 18 weeks, tonsillectomy three to 36 weeks and neurosurgery five to 30 weeks. Toronto-area hospitals, concerned about lawsuits, ask patients to sign a legal release accepting that while delays in treatment may jeopardize their health, they nevertheless hold the hospital blameless. Canadians have an option Britainers don't: close proximity of American hospitals. In fact, the Canadian government spends over $1 billion each year for Canadians to receive medical treatment in our country. I wonder how much money the U.S. government spends for Americans to be treated in Canada.

Larson tells about some of Sweden's problems in "Lesson from Sweden's Universal Health System: Tales from the Health-care Crypt," published in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons (Spring 2008). Mr. D., a Gothenburg multiple sclerosis patient, was prescribed a new drug. His doctor's request was denied because the drug was 33 percent more expensive than the older medicine. Mr. D. offered to pay for the medicine himself but was prevented from doing so. The bureaucrats said it would set a bad precedent and lead to unequal access to medicine...

Yet all we keep hearing is how great Government run health care it, how our system is so inferior to the these. The scarey thing is that there are people who, even after reading all of this and other such acounts, still want this! I'm not willing to put my life in the hands of government officials and beaurocrats. Anyone that is willing to do so is a FOOL!

PRESIDENT Lyndon John son's administration was known for his War on Poverty. President Obama's will become notable for his War on Prosperity.

We're speaking, of course, of Obama's plans to hike income taxes on the most wealthy 2 or 3 percent of the nation. He's not just raising the top rate to 39.6 percent; he's also disallowing about one-third of top earner's deductions, whether for state and local taxes, charitable contributions or mortgage interest. This is an effective hike in their taxes by an average of about 20 percent...

No society has EVER taxed it's self into prosperity!!! As has been pointed out before, you could confiscate the entire wealth of everyone who makes over the magical 250k mark and still not come close to being able to pay for all the spending that Obama wants. It would not help anyone in any appreciable way. All it will do is kill the engine of our economy. As I keep saying, enough with the class warfare! It is accomplishing NOTHING!

Attorney General Eric Holder said the United States is "a nation of cowards" when it comes to race relations. In one sense, he is absolutely right. Many whites, from university administrators and professors, schoolteachers to employers and public officials accept behavior from black people that they wouldn't begin to accept from whites. For example, some of the nation's most elite universities, such as Vanderbilt, Stanford University and the University of California, have yielded to black student demands for separate graduation ceremonies and separate "celebratory events." Universities such as Stanford, Cornell, MIT, and Cal Berkeley have, or have had, segregated dorms. If white students demanded whites-only graduation ceremonies or whites-only dorms, administrators would have labeled their demands as intolerable racism. When black students demand the same thing, these administrators cowardly capitulate. Calling these university administrators cowards is the most flattering characterization of their behavior. They might actually be stupid enough to believe nonsense taught by their some of sociology and psychology professors that blacks can't be racists because they don't have power...

As usual, Dr. Williams hits the nail squarely on the head! If you are not aware of who Dr. Williams is, he is a professor of ecomonics at George Mason University, and he happens to be black.

Is that clear enough? Jim Calhoun makes $1.6 million -- OK, he makes "a lot more than that," as he pointed out a few days ago -- and that's fine with me. It should be fine with you. On this issue he owes no apologies to anyone, a list that includes you and me and his state's naïve governor and, especially, the grandstanding attention hound who hijacked Calhoun's recent postgame press conference to advance a political cause...

This event is emblematic of the class warfare taking place in our society today. Let me be blunt. IT'S NOBODY'S BUSINESS WHAT ANYONE ELSE EARNS!!! There isn't a person in this country that doesn't have enough things in their own lives to worry about before even thinking about someone else's. The desire to punish achievement and success is despicable and atrocious. Achievement and success are to be celebrated, not punished! I think people need to remember Commandment number 10:

Feb. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Benjamin Netanyahu plans to apply the same small-government policies when he becomes Israel’s prime minister as he did six years ago as finance minister. Then, his tax and spending cuts helped lift the economy out of recession. They may be less suitable this time around.

The Likud party leader, who has until April 3 to form a coalition, faces a shrinking economy, a growing budget deficit and a frozen corporate bond market. The recession in the U.S. and Europe has clobbered Israeli exports, which account for about half of gross domestic product in a country whose economy is smaller than Singapore’s. His only fiscal tool for the moment is a budget drawn up in August and stalled in the parliament...

No society has EVER taxed itself into prosperity, but EVERY time that taxes have been cut the economy prospers. John Kennedy cut taxes and the economy prospered and federal revenue increased. Ronald Reagan cut taxes and the economy prospered and federal revenue increased. George W. Bush cut taxes and the economy prospered and federal revenue increased. If you find this hard to believe, check the OMB stats. Benjamin Netanyahu understands this and his country will prosper as a result. Obama, Pelosi, & Reed know this, but don't care because they are more interested in their power and control over the people of this country!

Although a spokesman for President Barack Obama said the administration wouldn’t pursue the revival of the Fairness Doctrine, Republican Sen. Jim DeMint, S.C., wants Senate Democrats to go on the record one way or another on the issue.

DeMint, chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, said on Feb. 19 he will offer the Broadcaster Freedom Act as an amendment to the D.C. Voting Rights bill next week. The Broadcaster Freedom Act was introduced by Republican lawmakers last month and prevents the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine...

The "Fairness Doctrine" is better called(as Sean Hannity has labled it) the Censorship Doctrine! This is the same type of tactic that the fascists and Nazi's used! The people doing this are the ones CLAIMING to be the protectors of freedom of speech. In reality though, they only want to protect that speech that agrees with them. It's very much like "bipartisanship" to them. Bipartisanship is when everyone else tosses their beliefs and core values aside and caves in to them.

It is impossible for anyone to possess the knowledge that would be necessary for such an undertaking. At the risk of boring you, let's go through a small example that proves such knowledge is impossible.

Imagine you are trying to understand a system consisting of six elements. That means there would be 30, or n(n-1), possible relationships between these elements. Now suppose each element can be characterized by being either on or off. That means the number of possible relationships among those elements grows to the number 2 raised to the 30th power; that's well over a billion possible relationships among those six elements...

Dr. Williams does an excellent job explaining the ecomomics of our economy! If you are one who thinks that Congress and The President did the right thing with the "stimulus," then you REALLY need to read this article!

As I've said before, there isn't a single "stimulating" thing about this monstrosity! Porkulus, as Rush calls it, is pure lard. I thought lard was bad for us? I guess in this case the nannies that are our Congressmen are willing to over look such trivialities. While McDonald's fries haven't tasted the same since they stopped using lard this thing smells like a rotting pile of fat left out in 100+ degree weather. The vultures have started circling too, just waiting for their opportunity to start the feeding frenzy!

It is amazing to me that these CEO's get up there in front of these "Representatives"(I only call them that in the technical sense of the term as they really don't "represent" hardly anyone) and don't have the male anatomy to stand up to these losers! It's time that they grew a pair and stopped being pushed around.

The "Representatives" questioning these men couldn't manage their way out of a wet paper bag. They are some of the most incompetent and inept people going. It is the likes of these people that have gotten us into the trouble we are currently experiencing. Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters, and several others(all Democrats by the way) are the ones responsible for not allowing proper oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac! The push, started by Jimmy Carter and expanded by Bill Clinton, to force banks to make loans to people that couldn't afford to pay them back and the backing of them by Fannie and Freddy is what got us into this situation. It is these people, NOT the CEO's that need to be facing inquiries right now! Yes, there are some bad CEO's(most all of them from the Baby-Boom generation), but in general and over all they are good at what they do.

It's also galling that these "Representatives" CLAIM to be fighting for the "little guy." Who builds these jets? Who services them? Who pilots them? That would be "THE LITTLE GUY!" The very person the Dems are supposed to be "fighting for." If that's the case then how come they continually impose new restrictions on or bad mouth industries such as this one, the RV industry and the domestic auto industry? Who gets hurt when these things happen? That would be "THE LITTLE GUY!" I think it's time "the little guy" woke up and stopped voting for these turds!

Dr. Robert Higgs, senior fellow at the Oakland-based Independent Institute, penned an article in The Christian Science Monitor (2/9/2009) that suggests the most intelligent recommendation that I've read to fix our current economic mess. The title of his article gives his recommendation away: "Instead of stimulus, do nothing -- seriously."

Stimulus package debate is over how much money should be spent, whether some should given to the National Endowment for the Arts, research sexually transmitted diseases or bail out Amtrak, our failing railroad system. Dr. Higgs says, "Hardly anyone, however, is asking the most important question: Should the federal government be doing any of this?" He adds, "Until the 1930s, the Constitution served as a major constraint on federal economic interventionism. The government's powers were understood to be just as the framers intended: few and explicitly enumerated in our founding document and its amendments. Search the Constitution as long as you like, and you will find no specific authority conveyed for the government to spend money on global-warming research, urban mass transit, food stamps, unemployment insurance, Medicaid, or countless other items in the stimulus package and, even without it, in the regular federal budget..."

As usual, Dr. Williams hit's the nail squarely on the head!

In his inaugural address, President Barack Obama said, "The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works -- whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified." Or as administration spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said in January, the touchstone is, "What will have the biggest and most immediate impact on creating private sector jobs and strengthening the middle class? We're guided by what works, not by any ideology or special interests."

Unfortunately, this rhetoric is not true. Mr. Obama's economic policy is following not what has been proven to work but liberal ideology.

The best way to understand this is to compare what's being proposed now with what Ronald Reagan accomplished. In 1980, amid a seriously dysfunctional economy, Reagan campaigned for president on an economic recovery program with four specific components...

Feb. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Republican Senators are questioning whether President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill contains the right mix of tax breaks and cash infusions to jump-start the economy.

Tragically, no one from either party is objecting to the health provisions slipped in without discussion. These provisions reflect the handiwork of Tom Daschle, until recently the nominee to head the Health and Human Services Department.

Senators should read these provisions and vote against them because they are dangerous to your health. (Page numbers refer to H.R. 1 EH, pdf version)...

...Elderly Hardest Hit

Daschle says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.

Medicare now pays for treatments deemed safe and effective. The stimulus bill would change that and apply a cost- effectiveness standard set by the Federal Council (464).

The Federal Council is modeled after a U.K. board discussed in Daschle’s book. This board approves or rejects treatments using a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is likely to benefit. Treatments for younger patients are more often approved than treatments for diseases that affect the elderly, such as osteoporosis.

In 2006, a U.K. health board decreed that elderly patients with macular degeneration had to wait until they went blind in one eye before they could get a costly new drug to save the other eye. It took almost three years of public protests before the board reversed its decision...

I guess the elderly are expendable. I guess we're supposed to let the government decide what treatments we need when we need them and exactly what type we need!? I'm from the government and I'm here to help you! OK!?

CBO: Obama stimulus harmful over long haul

President Obama's economic recovery package will actually hurt the economy more in the long run than if he were to do nothing, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday.

CBO, the official scorekeepers for legislation, said the House and Senate bills will help in the short term but result in so much government debt that within a few years they would crowd out private investment, actually leading to a lower Gross Domestic Product over the next 10 years than if the government had done nothing...

There's NOTHING stimulating about this bill! It's pure lard, plain and simple! Oink, oink, oink, oink, oink!!!

"I don't think that there is any global warming," said the 67-year-old liberal, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the European Union. "I don't see the statistical data for that..."

THE scariest photo I have seen on the internet is www.spaceweather.com, where you will find a real-time image of the sun from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, located in deep space at the equilibrium point between solar and terrestrial gravity.

What is scary about the picture is that there is only one tiny sunspot.

Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.

All four agencies that track Earth's temperature (the Hadley Climate Research Unit in Britain, the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, the Christy group at the University of Alabama, and Remote Sensing Systems Inc in California) report that it cooled by about 0.7C in 2007. This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record and it puts us back where we were in 1930. If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over...

Let's cut taxes, as I want, and spend more, as Obama would like.

There's a serious debate in this country as to how best to end the recession. The average recession will last five to 11 months; the average recovery will last six years. Recessions will end on their own if they're left alone. What can make the recession worse is the wrong kind of government intervention.

I believe the wrong kind is precisely what President Barack Obama has proposed. I don't believe his is a "stimulus plan" at all -- I don't think it stimulates anything but the Democratic Party. This "porkulus" bill is designed to repair the Democratic Party's power losses from the 1990s forward, and to cement the party's majority power for decades.

Keynesian economists believe government spending on "shovel-ready" infrastructure projects -- schools, roads, bridges -- is the best way to stimulate our staggering economy. Supply-side economists make an equally persuasive case that tax cuts are the surest and quickest way to create permanent jobs and cause an economy to rebound. That happened under JFK, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. We know that when tax rates are cut in a recession, it brings an economy back.

Recent polling indicates that the American people are in favor of both approaches...

I like the plan, and not just because of who it came from! If the Dems are truly interested in a "BIPARTISAN" plan, then this is it.

Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshippers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative.

Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph can not tolerate any criticism and opposition.

A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers' unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity.

A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation. A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs.

Congratulations America!

BTW, I particularly like the part about it being a victory for "urban snobs." These people in-particular, being that the urban population votes so heavily Democrat, especially this time, are the ones most responsible for this abandonment of our Founding Fathers beliefs!

Bush Mocked As He Arrives on Inauguration Dais

The crowd packed on the west side of the Capitol grounds serenaded President Bush in mocking fashion when he took to the inaugural stage alongside Vice President Dick Cheney.

"Nah nah nah nah, hey hey, good-bye," a section of the crowd chanted.

The crowd packed immediately below the podium received Bush in stony silence when he took his seat on the stage surrounding the podium where Barack Obama was scheduled to take the oath office to become the 44th president of the United States.

The jeers are among the final public feedback Bush will receive as president...

How pathetic!!! The hate of this man is totally irrational and beyond normal. These people are obsessed and delusional, not to mention deranged. Sean Hannity coined a perfect description of this, "Bush Derangement Syndrome!" I can promise that though I may adamantly oppose and/or disagree with President Obama's views and policies I will not stoop to the level that these people have!
