Whose medical decisions?, Part IV
Thomas Sowell
The serious, and sometimes chilling, provisions of the medical care legislation that President Obama has been trying to rush through Congress are important enough for all of us to stop and think, even though his political strategy from the outset has been to prevent us from having time to stop and think about it.
What we also should stop to think about is the mindset behind this legislation, which is very consistent with the mindset behind other policies of this administration, whether the particular issue is bailing out General Motors, telling banks who to lend to or appointing "czars" to tell all sorts of people in many walks of life what they can and cannot do.
The idea that government officials can play God from Washington is not a new idea, but it is an idea that is being pushed with new audacity...
"When all government, domestic and foreign, in little as in great things, shall be drawn to Washington as the center of all power, it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another and will become as venal and oppressive as the government from which we separated."
-- Thomas Jefferson to Charles Hammond, 1821. The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, (Memorial Edition) Lipscomb and Bergh, editors, ME 15:332
"The greatest [calamity] which could befall [us would be] submission to a government of unlimited powers."
-- Thomas Jefferson, Declaration and Protest of Virginia, 1825. The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, (Memorial Edition) Lipscomb and Bergh, editors, ME 17:445
"I consider the foundation of the Constitution as laid on this ground that 'all powers not delegated to the United States, by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states or to the people.' To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn around the powers of Congress, is to take possession of a boundless field of power not longer susceptible of any definition."
-- Thomas Jefferson, Opinion on the Constitutionality of a National Bank, February 15, 1791
It is quite clear that the federal government has no authority to institute a system of nationalized health care. To do so would be a major usurpation of its Constitutional powers. As far as that goes, much of what the Federal government has done, with regards to "welfare" is unconstitutional. Sadly, a great many of the people of this nation would rather be made comfortable rather than have freedom and liberty. As Ben Franklin said, "if you give up liberty for safety, you deserve neither." All you have to do is read what the Founding Fathers wrote and you will see that the federal government was meant to be LIMITED. It was never meant to be this large or have the reach in to our lives it has obtained.
My question to those that read this is quite simple. Are you so helpless that you are incapable of taking care of yourself and need a nanny, in this case the federal government, to do it for you? If your answer is yes, I pity you and your childish mindset. If your answer is no, then maybe it's about time you got off your butt, pay attention to what people are saying and vote people into office that will take their oath to "preserve and protect" The Constitution seriously and be true "citizen legislators" and not act like a ruling elite.

Whose medical decisions?, Part III
Thomas Sowell
Amid all the controversies over medical care, no one seems to be asking a very basic question: Why does it take more than 1,000 pages of legislation to insure people who lack medical insurance?
Despite incessant repetition of the fact that millions of Americans do not have medical insurance, hardy souls who have actually read the mammoth medical care legislation being rushed through Congress have discovered all sorts of things there that have nothing whatever to do with insuring the uninsured - and everything to do with taking medical decisions out of the hands of doctors and their patients, and transferring those decisions to Washington bureaucrats...

Fixing the Health-Care System Requires Market Changes, Not a Government Takeover, Major Economists Say
Friday, August 28, 2009
By Pete Winn, Senior Writer/Editor
(CNSNews.com) – Fixing the main problems with the health-care system should not take a major overhaul or government-run health insurance, or even a 700-page bill. What is needed is some good old-fashioned competition, according to the authors of a new book on the subject -- two economists whose research is highly regarded in the academic world.
“If (some) pro-competitive adjustments are made, you could write a bill probably of 30 pages or less – a very short bill that would make the necessary changes and would accomplish the objective of getting everybody covered with adequate insurance,” said Dr. Earl Grinols, distinguished professor of economics at Baylor University and co-author of the book, “Health Care for Us All: Getting More for Our Investment.”...

Whose medical decisions?, Part II
Thomas Sowell
When famed bank robber Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks, he said: "Because that's where the money is."
For the same reason, it is as predictable as the sunrise that medical care for the elderly will be cut back under a government-controlled medical system. Because that's where the money is...

Whose medical decisions?
Thomas Sowell
There was a time when rushing a thousand-page bill through Congress so fast that no one has time to read it would have provoked public outrage. But now, this has been attempted twice in the first 6 months of a new administration.
The fact that they got away with it before, with the "stimulus" bill, may have led them to believe that they could get away with it again.
But the first bill simply spent hundreds of billions of dollars. The current "health care" bill threatens to take life-and-death decisions out of the hands of individuals and their doctors, transferring those decisions to Washington bureaucrats...
This is the first of a multi-part series. I'll be posting each a day apart and giving my comments at the end of the series. Dr. Sowell is a brilliant economist and is a Fellow at The Hoover Institute at Stanford. I highly recommend his articles and books.

Exploiting Public Ignorance
BY WALTER WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, JULY 29, 2009
How can political commentators, politicians and academics get away with statements like "Reagan budget deficits," "Clinton budget surplus," "Bush budget deficits" or "Obama's tax increases"? The only answer is that they, or the people who believe such statements, are ignorant, conniving or just plain stupid. Article I, Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution reads: "All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills." A president has no power to raise or lower taxes. He can propose tax measures or veto them but since Congress can ignore presidential proposals and override a presidential veto, it has the ultimate taxing power. The same principle applies to spending. A president cannot spend a dime that Congress does not first appropriate. As such, presidents cannot be held responsible for budget deficits or surpluses. That means that credit for a budget surplus or blame for budget deficits rests on the congressional majority at the time...
Sadly, too many people in nation haven't the slightest clue how our government is SUPPOSED to operate!
Lockerbie bomber 'set free for oil'
From The Sunday Times
August 30, 2009
By Jason Allardyce
The British government decided it was "in the overwhelming interests of the United Kingdom" to make Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber, eligible for return to Libya, leaked ministerial letters reveal.
Gordon Brown's government made the decision after discussions between Libya and BP over a multi-million-pound oil exploration deal had hit difficulties. These were resolved soon afterwards.
The letters were sent two years ago by Jack Straw, the justice secretary, to Kenny MacAskill, his counterpart in Scotland, who has been widely criticised for taking the formal decision to permit Megrahi's release.
The correspondence makes it plain that the key decision to include Megrahi in a deal with Libya to allow prisoners to return home was, in fact, taken in London for British national interests...
Absolutely disgusting, but I'd expect nothing less from a loser like Gordon Brown!!!

FCC Diversity Chief Says Republican Communications Policies Hurt Civil Rights

(CNSNews.com) – Mark Lloyd, chief diversity officer at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), claimed that communications policies enacted by Republicans negatively impacted the civil rights of minorities.
Lloyd made the claim in a 1998 essay he wrote while working for the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights. He said that two decades of Republican communications policies had eroded the gains made by the civil rights movement in minority ownership in communications...

Pilot 'never had trouble before'

HARRISON, OH( FOX19)-- The FAA/ NTSB will be on the scene investigating a plane crash that killed two people Friday evening.
Police say that a home built Steen Skybolt, Bi-plane took off from the Harrison Airport a short time after 8:00pm. According to witnesses, the plane began a steep climb near the end of the runway, then pitched to the left and nosedived. The aircraft crashed a quarter of a mile from the end of the runway near the Harrison High School bus garage...
Very sad, but apparently the pilot did a fabulous job of steering the plane away from the stadium so as not to hurt anyone else. I had actually gone to the game initially, but changed my mind at the gate and went and got something to eat because it was just a scrimmage.

Eight things we can do to improve health care without adding to the deficit
By John Mackey
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out
of other people's money."
—Margaret Thatcher
With a projected $1.8 trillion deficit for 2009, several trillions more in deficits projected over the next decade, and with both Medicare and Social Security entitlement spending about to ratchet up several notches over the next 15 years as Baby Boomers become eligible for both, we are rapidly running out of other people's money. These deficits are simply not sustainable. They are either going to result in unprecedented new taxes and inflation, or they will bankrupt us...
This is an excellent piece. Mr. Mackey provides sensible common sense ideas that don't require the government to control health care. What's interesting about this is that Mr. Mackey is a self-described Libertarian and his stores are frequented, in large part, by those on the left. Another thing, he, a couple years ago, made his salary $1/year. The remainder, as well as much more, is donated to charity.

In Government We Trust?
By Daniel Henninger
To explain why the Obama health-care proposal pitched the nation's politicians into town-hall hell, we would like to call to the stand an expert on how things in life can sometimes go wrong-Mr. Billy Joel.
Using a song years ago to sort through the complexities of a relationship in trouble, the Piano Man repeated the same simple one-word truth: "It's a matter of trust."...
My simple answer, NO I do not trust government, especially a large centralized government. Our Founding Fathers warned against just such a thing. Sadly, too many people in this country never learned that.

Here's what I wrote in last year's column titled "Global Warming Rope-a-Dope" (12/24/2008): "Once laws are written, they are very difficult, if not impossible, to repeal. If a time would ever come when the permafrost returns to northern U.S., as far south as New Jersey as it once did, it's not inconceivable that Congress, caught in the grip of the global warming zealots, would keep all the laws on the books they wrote in the name of fighting global warming. Personally, I would not put it past them to write more." On June 28, 2009, the House of Representatives, by a narrow margin (219-212), passed the Waxman-Markey bill. The so-called "cap and trade" bill has been sold as a system for cutting greenhouse gas emissions in the struggle against global warming. There's a full-court press on the U.S. Senate to pass its version of "cap and trade..."
As I said, repeatedly, environmentalism is a religion. A very old one at that. It is nothing more than worship of the earth/creation. Global warming in simply one of its newest tenets. If you'll notice, it's a rather fragile one too. Because the earth is actually cooling, and has been for the last decade or so, the term has, conveniently, been changed to Climate Change. How convenient that is. Doesn't sound like a very stable belief structure to me.

Ronald Reagan Speaks Out Against Socialized Medicine
This was said almost 50 years ago! It's amazing how applicable it is to today!!!
"Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare but only those specifically enumerated."
-- Thomas Jefferson
James Madison, the Father of the Constitution, elaborated upon this limitation in a letter to James Robertson:
With respect to the two words "general welfare," I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators. If the words obtained so readily a place in the "Articles of Confederation," and received so little notice in their admission into the present Constitution, and retained for so long a time a silent place in both, the fairest explanation is, that the words, in the alternative of meaning nothing or meaning everything, had the former meaning taken for granted.
"If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the general welfare, the government is no longer a limited one possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one subject to particular exceptions." James Madison, "Letter to Edmund Pendleton,"
-- James Madison, January 21, 1792, in The Papers of James Madison, vol. 14, Robert A Rutland et. al., ed (Charlottesvile: University Press of Virginia,1984).
" The government of the United States is a definite government, confined to specified objects. It is not like state governments, whose powers are more general. Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government."
-- James Madison, speech in the House of Representatives, January 10, 1794

Why a Bill of Rights?
BY WALTER WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, JULY 1, 2009
Why did the founders of our nation give us the Bill of Rights? The answer is easy. They knew Congress could not be trusted with our God-given rights. Think about it. Why in the world would they have written the First Amendment prohibiting Congress from enacting any law that abridges freedom of speech and the press? The answer is that in the absence of such a limitation Congress would abridge free speech and free press. That same distrust of Congress explains the other amendments found in our Bill of Rights protecting rights such as our rights to property, fair trial and to bear arms. The Bill of Rights should serve as a constant reminder of the deep distrust that our founders had of government. They knew that some government was necessary but they rightfully saw government as the enemy of the people and they sought to limit government and provide us with protections...
The Constitution is meant to restrict the power, scope and reach of the federal government, not the individual!

Global warming is the new religion of First World urban elites
Geologist Ian Plimer takes a contrary view, arguing that man-made climate change is a con trick perpetuated by environmentalists
By Jonathan Manthorpe, Vancouver Sun
July 28, 2009
Ian Plimer has outraged the ayatollahs of purist environmentalism, the Torquemadas of the doctrine of global warming, and he seems to relish the damnation they heap on him.
Plimer is a geologist, professor of mining geology at Adelaide University, and he may well be Australia's best-known and most notorious academic.
Plimer, you see, is an unremitting critic of "anthropogenic global warming" -- man-made climate change to you and me -- and the current environmental orthodoxy that if we change our polluting ways, global warming can be reversed...
Global warming/environmentalism is a religion, plain and simple! It's also one of the most vain beliefs a person can hold. To believe that our everyday living and prosperity is damaging/destroying this planet, when there are everyday examples of natural forces far more powerful and with far larger effects on this planet than anything done by humans throughout our time on this planet is pure arrogance and the height of vanity.
We are to be good stewards of the earths resources, but they are just that RESOURCES. They are here for us to use, yes use wisely, but use none the less. We should also not be worshiping CREATION, rather it's CREATOR! There's going to be a price we pay for how we conduct ourselves using these resources and how we carry on in these manners, but it's going to be having to answer to THE CREATOR for not following His instructions.
Number 1, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."
Number 2, "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."
Number 3, "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me..."
Now for the "elites" and "educated" amongst us I realize you're going to roll your eyes and view me as some sort of rube. All I can say is, try not to be such an arrogant elitist urban snob and be careful about going out in the the rain, you might drown with your nose turned up that much.

Vicious Academic Liberals
BY WALTER WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 2009
Ward Connerly, former University of California Regent, has an article, "Study, Study, Study -- A Bad Career Move" in the June 2, 2009 edition of Minding the Campus (www.mindingthecampus.com) that should raise any decent American's level of disgust for what's routinely practiced at most of our universities. Mr. Connerly tells of a conversation he had with a high-ranking UC administrator about a proposal that the administrator was developing to increase campus diversity. Connerly asked the administrator why he considered it important to tinker with admissions instead of just letting the chips fall where they may. His response was that that unless the university took steps to "guide" admissions decisions, the University of California campuses would be dominated by Asians. When Connerly asked, "What would be wrong with that?", the UC administrator told him that Asians are "too dull -- they study, study, study." Then he said to Connerly, "If you ever say I said this, I will have to deny it." Connerly did not reveal the administrator's name. It would not have done any good because it's part of a diversity vision shared by most college administrators...

Why I'm a Libertarian Nut Instead of Just a Nut
July 1, 2009 - 2:12 ET
By Penn Jillette
I don’t speak for all Libertarians any more than Sean Penn speaks for all Democrats. I’m not even sure my LP membership card is up to date. I’ve voted Libertarian as long as I can remember but I don’t really remember much before the Clintons and the Bushes. Those clans made a lot of us bugnutty. When I go on Glenn’s show he calls me a Libertarian, I think that’s my only real credential...
...The fact that the majority wants something good does not give them the right to use force on the minority that don’t want to pay for it. If you have to use a gun, it’s not really a very good idea. Democracy without respect for individual rights sucks. It’s just ganging up on the weird kid, and I’m always the weird kid...
...It’s amazing to me how many people think that voting to have the government give poor people money is compassion. Helping poor and suffering people yourself is compassion. Voting for our government to use guns to give money to help poor and suffering people is immoral self-righteous bullying laziness. People need to be fed, medicated, educated, clothed, and sheltered. If we’re compassionate, we’ll help them, but you get no moral credit for forcing other people to do what you think is right. There is great joy in helping people, but no joy in doing it at gunpoint...
Very succinct and to the point! I lean more libertarian myself. I think most conservatives, if they thought about it would find they have more in common with the Libertarian Party than they do the Republican Party. If the Libertarian Party could ever become a force and get members elected to Congress they'd become the new home of conservative Reaganites like myself.

Live Free or Die
BY WALTER WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17, 2009
"Live Free or Die" is the title of author and columnist Mark Steyn's speech at Hillsdale College, reproduced in Imprimis (April 2009), a Hillsdale publication that's free for the asking. Canadian born, now living in New Hampshire, Steyn has had firsthand experience with socialist tyranny in his home country that is rapidly becoming a part of America. Commenting on one of his run-ins with Canada's human rights commissions, Steyn points how it might seem bizarre to find the progressive left making common cause with radical Islam. One half of that alliance is pro-gay, pro-feminist secularists and the other half is homophobic, misogynist theocrats. Steyn argues what they have in common overrides their differences, namely, "Both the secular Big Government progressives and the political Islam recoil from the concept of the citizen, of the free individual entrusted to operate within his own societal space, assume his responsibilities, and exploit his potential."
I'm not willing to give up my freedom and liberty for a little security! Our Founding Fathers believed in FREEDOM and LIBERTY above all else.

Dumbest Generation Getting Dumber

RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3, 2009
The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is an international comparison of 15-year-olds conducted by The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) that measures applied learning and problem-solving ability. In 2006, U.S. students ranked 25th of 30 advanced nations in math and 24th in science. McKinsey & Company, in releasing its report "The Economic Impact of the Achievement Gap in America's Schools" (April 2009) said, "Several other facts paint a worrisome picture. First, the longer American children are in school, the worse they perform compared to their international peers. In recent cross-country comparisons of fourth grade reading, math, and science, US students scored in the top quarter or top half of advanced nations. By age 15 these rankings drop to the bottom half. In other words, American students are farthest behind just as they are about to enter higher education or the workforce." That's a sobering thought. The longer kids are in school and the more money we spend on them, the further behind they get...

'Capitalism Will Fail,' Marijuana Leaf Part of California School Mosaic
By Joshua Rhett Miller

zombietime.com
Communism's hammer and sickle is seen in the "Class of 2007" mosaic outside of the Black Pine Circle School in Berkeley, Calif.
Symbols of communism and marijuana and a prediction that "capitalism will fail" aren't exactly the sort of end-of-year messages you'd expect from an eighth grader.
But that's precisely what some students at the Black Pine Circle School, a private school in Berkeley, Calif., chose to include in their "Class of 2007" mosaic...
This doesn't surprise me coming out of Berkeley. The people out there have always loved communism more than they do freedom! Sadly, the children out there clearly haven't been taught about the founding of this great nation or the great men that put it together and what they risked to do so. The fact that a child would know more about and admire the likes of the USSR(the Soviet Union), Stalin, Lenin, Castro, and Che Guevara(all of which are communists who murdered millions of people), than they do about The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, The Boston Tea Party, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Paine, et. al(all of which risked everything they had to create the freest and greatest nation ever devised by man) is not just sad and tragic, but also, disgusting!Posted using ShareThis

The Housing Boom and Bust
BY WALTER WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, MAY 27, 2009
Hot off the press is my colleague Dr. Thomas Sowell's 43rd book, "The Housing Boom and Bust." The book is an eye-opener for anyone interested in the truth about the collapse of the housing market that played a major role in our financial market crisis.
The root of the problem lies in Washington. The Community Reinvestment Act of 1977, later given teeth during the Bush and Clinton administrations, forced financial institutions to make risky mortgage loans they otherwise would not have made. President Clinton's Attorney General Janet Reno threatened legal action against lenders whose racial statistics raised her suspicions. Bank loan qualification standards, in general, came under criticism as being too stringent regarding down payments, credit histories, and income. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two government-sponsored enterprises, by lowering their standards for the kinds of mortgage paper they would purchase from banks and other mortgage lenders, gave financial institutions further incentive to make risky loans...
But Barney Fwank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Watters, et. al., said that Fannie and Freddie were fine! Just a reminder for those that may not know Dr. Sowell or may want to argue with him, he is a Senior Fellow at The Hoover Institute at Stanford Universtity and Professor of Economics .Thursday, June 18, 2009

A judge is supposed to be dispassionate, rule on the law and on the merits of the case. They are not to rule based on how they "feel" or to legislate from the bench.

Move Update
Yes, I am working on a law enforcement career down there as well. I've submitted an application to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. I'm in the process of finishing an application to submit to the St. John's County Sheriff's Office when I go down next month for a week to do some job hunting. I am also working on submitting all the required information to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in order to gain my equivalency with them so as to not have to go through their entire academy process.
On the housing front, I've obtained a preliminary approval for a home loan in order to buy something. The catch is, I have to have gain employment in order to get full approval for the loan. This isn't that big a deal though. I need to have a job before I can proceed with anything else.
So, that's where things stand at present. I'll keep everyone updated as things progress.
Race Talk

RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, MAY 13, 2009
What to call black people has to be confusing to white people. Having been around for 73 years, I have been through a number of names. Among the polite ones are: colored, Negro, Afro-American, black, and now African-American. Among those names, African-American is probably the most unintelligent. You say, "What do you mean, Williams?" Suppose I told you that I had a European-American friend or a South-America-American friend, or a North-America-American friend. You'd probably say, "Williams, that's stupid. Europe, South America and North America are continents consisting of many peoples." You might insist that I call my friend from Germany a German-American instead of European-American and my friend from Brazil a Brazilian-American rather than a South-America-American and my friend from Canada a Canadian-American instead of a North-American. So would not the same apply to people whose heritage lies on the African continent? For example, instead of claiming that President Barack Obama is the first African-American president, it should be that he's the first Kenyan-American president. In that sense, Obama is lucky. Unlike most American blacks, he knows his national heritage; the closest to a national heritage the rest of us can identify is some country along Africa's gold coast...
It seems to me that people are not remembering, let alone applying, the statement by Dr. King that people be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. The other thing about this is the hyphenated Americanism taking place today. I am an AMERICAN! John Wayne has an excellent dialog about this. I highly recommend that eveyone find this and listen to it.

'Rub my Nuts'
Richard Oviatt
The dean of the College of Social Work "acted inappropriately" at a student orientation when he wore a shirt emblazoned with "Rub my Nuts," according to a report by Ohio State's Office of Human Resources...

Fraud in Academia
BY WALTER WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, MAY 6, 2009
Soon college students will come home and present parents with their grades. To avoid delusion, parents should do some serious discounting because of rampant grade inflation. If grade inflation continues, a college bachelor's degree will have just as much credibility as a high school diploma.
Writing for the National Association of Scholars, Professor Thomas C. Reeves documents what is no less than academic fraud in his article "The Happy Classroom: Grade Inflation Works." From 1991 to 2007, in public institutions, the average grade point average (GPA) rose, on a four-point scale, from 2.93 to 3.11. In private schools, the average GPA climbed from 3.09 to 3.30. Put within a historical perspective, in the 1930s, the average GPA was 2.35 (about a C-plus); whereby now it's a B-plus.
Academic fraud is rife at many of the nation's most prestigious and costliest universities. At Brown University, two-thirds of all letter grades given are A's. At Harvard, 50 percent of all grades were either A or A- (up from 22 percent in 1966); 91 percent of seniors graduated with honors. The Boston Globe called Harvard's grading practices "the laughing stock of the Ivy League." Eighty percent of the grades given at the University of Illinois are A's and B's. Fifty percent of students at Columbia University are on the Dean's list. At Stanford University, where F grades used to be banned, only 6 percent of student grades were as low as a C...
Things that make you go, hmmmm and at the same time, laugh at the hypocrisy that is academia today! Oh, just a reminder, for those this may not sit well with, Dr. Williams is a PROFESSOR at George Mason University.

Parting Company
BY WALTER WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 2009
Texas Gov. Rick Perry rattled cages when he suggested that Texans might at some point become so disgusted with Washington's gross violation of the U.S. Constitution that they would want to secede from the union. Political hustlers, their media allies and others, who have little understanding, are calling his remarks treasonous. Let's look at it.
When New York delegates met on July 26, 1788, their ratification document read, "That the Powers of Government may be resumed by the People, whensoever it shall become necessary to their Happiness; that every Power, Jurisdiction and right which is not by the said Constitution clearly delegated to the Congress of the United States, or the departments of the government thereof, remains to the People of the several States, or to their respective State Governments to whom they may have granted the same..."
A truly thought provoking article by Dr. Williams. Being a big believer in states rights I am in total agreement with Dr. Williams. Some may say this was settled by the Civil War, but when I look at what the Founders said I say, yes it has been settled, but not how most would say.
Despite Reports, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed Was Not Waterboarded 183 Times
The number of times Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was waterboarded was the focus of major media attention -- and highly misleading.
By Joseph Abrams
FOXNews.com
Tuesday, April 28, 2009
The New York Times reported last week that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, was waterboarded 183 times in one month by CIA interrogators. The "183 times" was widely circulated by news outlets throughout the world.
It was shocking. And it was highly misleading. The number is a vast inflation, according to information from a U.S. official and the testimony of the terrorists themselves...
...The Times and dozens of other outlets wrote that the CIA also waterboarded senior Al Qaeda member Abu Zubaydah 83 times, but Zubayda himself, a close associate of Usama bin Laden, told the Red Cross he was waterboarded no more than 10 times...
Seems that the NY Times, once again, can't get its facts correct. The paper that was once "the nations paper of record" has become nothing more than cheap bird cage liner. Only libs who want to APPEAR intellectual and thoughtful and be part of the "in crowd" subscribe to this rag. I doubt if even they really read much if any of the crap in it. The Old Grey Lady will soon be The Dead Grey Lady.

Perez Hilton: The Foul Face of ‘Gay’ Activism
Friday, April 24, 2009
By J. Matt Barber
Warning: This article contains graphic but accurate material that may be offensive to some readers.
You may have heard. During Sunday’s Miss USA pageant openly “gay” activist and pageant judge Perez Hilton – the self-styled “Queen of Media” – ambushed Carrie Prejean – the openly Christian Miss California – with a politically loaded question on so-called “same-sex marriage.” Prejean’s candid answer – as both Hilton and Miss USA organizer Donald Trump later admitted – likely cost her the crown.
From the moment she opened her mouth, Prejean has given liberals a clinic in class. Hilton, on the other hand (a.k.a. Mario Armando Lavandeira), has provided the world a sneak peek into the soul of homosexual activism...
...This whole hateful affair provides the perfect metaphor for the current divide between defenders of traditional sexual morality and the extremist “queer” activist movement. As Congress debates the constructive repeal of both the Fourteenth Amendment guarantee of “equal protection under the law” and the First Amendment guarantees of free speech and freedom of religion through passage of discriminatory and wholly unnecessary “hate crimes” legislation, this little episode once again reminds us that the self-described champions of “tolerance” and “diversity” are the most intolerant and hateful among us...
Ms. Prejean is the type of lady that, if I had I daughter, I'd point to as someone to admire and look up to! As the writer of this article stated, she has been total class through out this. Those opposing what she said have been totally classless!

Report: Democrats Refuse to Allow Skeptic to Testify Alongside Gore At Congressional Hearing
By Marc Morano

'House Democrats don't want Gore humiliated'
Climate Depot Exclusive - Updated
Washington, DC -- UK's Lord Christopher Monckton, a former science advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, claimed House Democrats have refused to allow him to appear alongside former Vice President Al Gore at a high profile global warming hearing on Friday April 24, 2009 at 10am in Washington. Monckton told Climate Depot that the Democrats rescinded his scheduled joint appearance at the House Energy and Commerce hearing on Friday. Monckton said he was informed that he would not be allowed to testify alongside Gore when his plane landed from England Thursday afternoon.
“The House Democrats don't want Gore humiliated, so they slammed the door of the Capitol in my face,” Monckton told Climate Depot in an exclusive interview. “They are cowards...”
I've said it many times, Al Gore has ozone for brains! The man puts out a nonsensical book(yes, I've read it and it's incredibly easy to blow holes in, which MANY people have) and a nonsensical movie and people fall all over themselves to laud the garbage, without thinking or exposing them to any serious examination.
If Gore is so sure and confident of his position, then why is he such a coward and refuses to publicly debate someone with an opposing perspective? I say there are 2 reasons. One, he knows that he will get crushed and he can't allow that to happen. That would lead to reason two, his house of cards would come crashing down. He would be exposed for the fraud he is!

Drama at GE shareholders meeting
'Open hostility' toward execs over MSNBC's 'leftward tilt'
By Paul Bond
April 22, 2009, 06:38 PM ET
Things got testy Wednesday at the GE shareholders meeting courtesy of several complaints about political bias at its media division, NBC Universal...
...First up was a woman asking about a reported meeting in which Immelt and NBC Uni CEO Jeff Zucker supposedly told top CNBC executives and talent to be less critical of President Obama and his policies...
...During the woman's follow-up question, her microphone was cut off. Later, during the umpteenth question about MSNBC, another shareholder's microphone was cut, according to multiple attendees...
I wish I'd have been there! I would have loved to have seen this take place. Immelt is a leftwing hack and an Obama toady. He was appointed to some commission by BHO as repayment for NBC's unquestioning support during the election. When you look at his pathetic leadership, it's no wonder that NBC is a distant third in network ratings and fading, their cable nets(especially PMSnbc) are getting crushed and GE's stock is in the toilet.

NBC is Pathetic!
People complain about Foxnews, but give the Peacock a pass. NBC has quite literally become Pravda(if you're uneducated and don't know what this is, LOOK IT UP!) for the Obama Administration.

Democracy and Majority Rule
BY WALTER E. WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 2009 AND THEREAFTER
Democracy and majority rule give an aura of legitimacy to acts that would otherwise be deemed tyranny. Think about it. How many decisions in our day-to-day lives would we like to be made through majority rule or the democratic process? How about the decision whether you should watch a football game on television or "Law and Order"? What about whether you drive a Chevrolet or a Ford, or whether your Easter dinner is turkey or ham? Were such decisions made in the political arena, most of us would deem it tyranny. Why isn't it also tyranny for the democratic process to mandate what type of light bulbs we use, how many gallons of water to flush toilets or whether money should be taken out of our paycheck for retirement?
The founders of our nation held a deep abhorrence for democracy and majority rule. In Federalist Paper No. 10, James Madison wrote, "Measures are too often decided, not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor party, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority." John Adams predicted, "Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There was never a democracy yet that did not commit suicide." Our founders intended for us to have a republican form of limited government where the protection of individual God-given rights was the primary job of government...
Sadly, a great many people in this country, as viewed by who is now in elected office, either don't know or don't care what our Founding Fathers said. Many of those that don't care think that way because they believe they are smarter than the Founders, or have convinced themselves that, despite what they wrote, the Founders would do it differently today.
We also have not had leaders often enought, during the last 100 years, that stood up for limited government and preservation of our God-given rights! The progressivist ideas that began seeping in to the government during Presidents Teddy Roosevelt's and Woodrow Willson's terms have taken firm root in and been expanded by the Democrats and the left.

Georgetown Says It Covered Over Name of Jesus to Comply With White House Request
Wednesday, April 15, 2009
By Edwin Mora
Georgetown University says it covered over the monogram “IHS”--symbolizing the name of Jesus Christ—because it was inscribed on a pediment on the stage where President Obama spoke at the university on Tuesday and the White House had asked Georgetown to cover up all signs and symbols there.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the “IHS” monogram that had previously adorned the stage at Georgetown’s Gaston Hall was still covered up--when the pediment where it had appeared was photographed by CNSNews.com...

If anyone doubts where this mans heart lies, they shouldn't now! He said just recently that we aren't a Christian nation and then goes and pulls this. What's really amazing is that he ended his speech here by, of all things, quoting Christ's Sermon on the Mount!
The Inspirtation Behind The Tea Party Movement
Mr. Santelli put voice to what many of us feel. His statement that we need a new tea party, a-la the Boston Tea Party, was the impetus behind this movement. Whether the likes of PMSnbc, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, the NY Times, et. al. want to consider them grassroots movements or not, they most certainly are.
They/We also are not just a bunch of "angry white people" who don't like Obama. I say "we" because I have attended both events in Cincinnati, including the one today. I saw people from all walks of life. I saw men, women, various ethnic and racial groups, and people from all income levels.
The people there were, except for a hand full of agitators, unanimous in their disapproval of the way our governments, at all levels, is spending our money and the recklessness with which it's being done. The "anger" is at the fiscal irresponsibility by our elected officials(that includes President Bush). It's time that ALL levels of government stop spending money that they don't have and live within financial constraints like everyone else has to!
If you would like to see pictures of todays Cincinnati Tea Party click on my facebook link to the right. All you have to do, once you get to my facebook page, is click on one of the pics and it will take you to the picture album containing pictures from the Tea Party today and last month.

Federal agency warns of radicals on right
9-page report sent to police
By Audrey Hudson (Contact) and Eli Lake (Contact) | Tuesday, April 14, 2009
The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement officials about a rise in "rightwing extremist activity," saying the economic recession, the election of America's first black president and the return of a few disgruntled war veterans could swell the ranks of white-power militias.
A footnote attached to the report by the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines "rightwing extremism in the United States" as including not just racist or hate groups, but also groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.
"It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration," the warning says...
I guess I'm a "rightwing extremist." This is disgusting! This administration, or should I say "regime," is trying to marginalize anyone that doesn't agree with it. What's most astonishing is the statement in the report that "returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to right-wing extremists."
This is unacceptable. Wanting the 9th and 10th Amendments of the Constitution applied and followed is not extreme! Being a strict constructionist is not extreme! Believing in freedom and this nation as constructed by our Founding Fathers is not extreme!
The extremists are those who want to silence those who do not agree with them!
Another excellent article on this subject can be found at WorldNetDaily.

Government Deception
A MINORITY VIEW
BY WALTER E. WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8, 2009 AND THEREAFTER
Most Americans accept the continuing attack on tobacco companies and smokers, but how do they feel about the massive government deception? In 1998, 46 state attorneys general and major tobacco companies signed the Master Settlement Agreement. The major tobacco companies agreed, among other things, to give states $240 billion over 25 years to provide for smoking cessation programs and cover the health costs associated with using their product. In return state attorneys general promised tobacco companies that they wouldn't sue them and would use their lawmaking power to protect the major tobacco companies from competition from small tobacco companies. Of the $80 billion extorted so far, states have spent about 30 percent on health, not all tobacco-related, and less than 6 percent on smoking cessation programs. Instead, state legislatures spent the bulk of their tobacco money for items such as museum building, tax relief, rainy-day funds and other expenditures having nothing to do with tobacco or health.
The U.S. Congress' deception was, and continues to be, a major player in our financial meltdown. In congressional hearings, before the meltdown, on the soundness of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Rep. Maxine Waters said, "Through nearly a dozen hearings, we were frankly trying to fix something that wasn't broke. Mr. Chairman, we do not have a crisis at Freddie Mac, and particularly at Fannie Mae, under the outstanding leadership of Franklin Raines." Rep. Barney Frank, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee, said, "These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis. The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing." Other congressmen gave similar assurances. Unfortunately for our nation, the forces pushing for "affordable" housing won the day and saddled us with today's unprecedented financial disaster. How stupid is it of us to ask those who brought us "affordable" housing to now turn their attention to bringing us "affordable" health care?...
To rely on government for anything is absurd! It is each individuals responsibility to meet their own needs, unless they are truly disabled and totally incapable of providing for themselves. Then it is our responsibility as individual citizens to help these people through charitable giving. When they are told just go to the government and get what you need the individual citizens shirk their responsibility to these people.
By the way, statistics show that conservatives are far more charitable in their giving than are liberals. It must be asked then, who really are the "selfish" of our society?

Reds change guard
By John Fay • jfay@enquirer.com • April 5, 2009
The Reds will have a lot of new faces in the lineup on Opening Day. For the first time since 2001, neither Ken Griffey Jr. nor Adam Dunn will be there to start the season.
For good or ill, Griffey and Dunn were the faces of this franchise. It was mostly ill: The Reds haven't had a winning season since 2000. The club decided to change course last summer, trading away both Griffey and Dunn.
So who will be the new and future faces of the franchise?...
I am really looking forward to watching these young guys play. I think they are excited to be here and want to win, badly. Though I did enjoy watching Dunn and Griffey I questioned whether they truly wanted it badly enough or were content to be where they were.
I don't know if this team will be the "next Tampa Bay" or not, but I do believe that they are going to play hard and give it their all.
