Obama's Victory--A British view

The Daily Mail (UK) wrote this editorial about Obama on 1/6/2009. (confirmation, Google "London Daily Mail Obama's Victory")

A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the US mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups. A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere.

A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth. Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.

A victory for Hollywood , the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros, Moore, and Sarandon.

Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion.

Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshippers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative.

Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph can not tolerate any criticism and opposition.

A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers' unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity.

A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation. A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs.

Congratulations America!

This may or may not be originally from The Daily Mail. I found a previous and more extensive article from the Toronto Sun that says the same thing. Not that I'm arguing with it. I totally agree! To see the Toronto Sun version click HERE.

BTW, I particularly like the part about it being a victory for "urban snobs." These people in-particular, being that the urban population votes so heavily Democrat, especially this time, are the ones most responsible for this abandonment of our Founding Fathers beliefs!

I read the article that was supposedly written by someone at the British Daily Mail. I am fearful of the future of our country as we are heading into a socialist/fascist mentality very quickly. Granted this is fascism without guns but it is fascism none the less. I do not care if someone at the Daily Mail wrote the article or it were written by the man in street, we have a great deal to be concerned about. There are a surprisingly large number of anti Obama letters already being printed in the Opinion section of the Dayton Daily News. Most sensible people recognize the problem with the new government and are speaking out against it. The people are speaking up. What is the phrase, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the fire.” Furthermore, free speech is for the liberals only.

What also scares me is the fact of the few remaining Republicans in the House and Senate seem to be cowering in fear of Obama. Look at the situation with Timothy Geithner, the treasury secretary nominee. Even though he did not pay income taxes for a number years, he is being given a pass. I feel that he does not deserve the job. Because, he was trying to defraud our US Government. However, he is on the fast track for approval for his high level position. The Republicans are petrified to resist this man. Even Wall Street likes this man but who cares how many criminal acts he committed.

Now Obama is taking on Rush Limbaugh because apparently Rush said to someone, “I hope Obama fails.” The leftist writers and Obama have talked about this issue. In fact, some are having a cow over the remark. The Fairness Doctrine is being threatened by the left because they simply do not like him. Obama should keep himself free of any discussion with Limbaugh because I believe it makes him, Obama, look petty. But that is the way the left is. I feel as though anyone has the right to say anything that is not threatening about any public official if he wants. He can send the letter to the editors of newspapers; he can send it to a friend through the mail; and he can e-mail to anyone. We should not be afraid of being muzzled by the left and their apparent disdain for the First Amendment. But we get threatened with the muzzle for saying thing about and against Obama. The left pilloried GW ever since the tragedy of 911 past. That took only six weeks for the dislike of the Muslims to blow over. Then, piling on GW came on a remained for the duration of his presidency. The left simply has no decency. Especially now when they own almost a veto proof congress.

I wonder if the left will shut down Oprah and The View because they violate the Fairness Doctrine.

So President Obama’s first interview since becoming president was held in Washington but aired in Egypt. The purpose was to reassure the Muslims that America was not their enemy. He did not hesitate to blame the previous administration that they were at fault. I would like to think that after the rancorous campaign that that kind of childish rhetoric would be put to bed. A Wall Street Journal opinion writer wrote that after 20 Jan 09, all the country’s problems are Obama’s not GW’s. Apparently, the Dems can’t resist blaming GW. The LEFT loves blaming otherwise their cause is of no effect. I cannot understand why Obama gave his first interview to the Egyptians and not the lemming fawning press in America. I am sure the lemming American press would like a part of that action. If the Arabs, particularly Saudi Arabia, would stop financing terrorism, I think we could be friendly toward each other. However, I do not expect to see the terrorism stop any time soon. See below the terrorist act foisted upon the United States by the Arabs. And, we are supposed to make love, not war with these villains. Let us see what the future has in store from Obama and his “make nice” policies.
