Does Preserving the Bush Tax Rates Doom Us to Massive Deficits? Nope!

Hit & Run : Reason Magazine

...So, does keeping the Bush tax rates mean that the government, which has hiked federal outlays 60 percent in constant 2010 dollars since Bill Clinton left office, will be starved for money? Not hardly. ...

Sadly, too many people in this country are economically illiterate! You DO NOT "PAY" for reduced taxes! "Massive deficits" are the product of MASSIVE SPENDING. We are not in this mess because we have not taxed people enough, we are in this mess because we (our governments, at every level) have no restraint on spending. Some of you may say, "then tell me what you would actually cut." Okay, where to begin, eliminate the Dept of Education, the Federal Reserve, the IRS (at least as it currently is structured towards pursuing individual citizens), The Dept of Homeland Security (the same could be accomplished by combining current agencies like the FBI, US Marshall's, ATF, TSA, etc. so as to eliminate redundant operations under one umbrella), heck, just go to USA.gov and look at the list of agencies and 90% of them are unnecessary and, quite frankly, unconstitutional. That's just for beginners!

Drudge Fought The TSA….And Drudge Won

Alex Jones' Prison Planet

...The big networks and the so-called progressive borg hive, who instantly tried to spin the lack of delays at airports over Thanksgiving as proof that the opt-out protest had failed, conveniently failed to mention the fact that major airports across the country had deliberately mothballed their naked body scanners in a crass PR ploy aimed at deflating the momentum behind the demonstration. ...

The TSA has NEVER stopped a single attack! Of course it's rather hard to do so when you are screening white, anglo-saxon, Christian people, especially elderly women, nuns, small children, and even white males the vast majority of the time. I would love to ask them to point out to me the last time someone like this either high-jacked, blew up or crashed a jet. The correct answer is, NEVER! Until they admit this (which they will never do) and start using proper police profiling techniques (which they also will never do) they will continue to be just another inept, politically correct, useless government agency.

Republicans Appear Poised to Win Big on Tuesday

Gallup
Lead in generic ballot large enough to give Republicans solid majority control of U.S. House.

Gallup's Oct. 28-31 survey of 1,539 likely voters finds 52% to 55% of likely voters preferring the Republican candidate and 40% to 42% for the Democratic candidate on the national generic ballot -- depending on turnout assumptions.
...

I prefer Rasmussen Reports as they are typically the most accurate in their numbers and projections. I do find this to be interesting. I also think it could be an attempt to distract and over exaggerate the outcome so as to give the left the ability to save face if the wins are not this large.

The Poem of the Statue of Liberty

The New Colossus

By Emma Lazarus, 1883

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

The beginning of the Statue of Liberty poem refers to the Colossus of Rhodes, which was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The Colossus of Rhodes is actually a statue of the Greek god Helios, which stood over 100 feet tall (the tallest of its time) before it was destroyed by earthquake in 226 BC.

So, the Statue of Liberty poem refers to this new giant statue likened to the old that represented the god of light. The Statue of Liberty poem also sets itself apart from Helios in that the Mother of Exiles is more welcoming than conquering. She welcomes all castaways, misfits and homeless types dreaming of freedom.

Is Health Care a Right?

A MINORITY VIEW
BY WALTER WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10, 2010

Most politicians, and probably most Americans, see health care as a right. Thus, whether a person has the means to pay for medical services or not, he is nonetheless entitled to them. Let's ask ourselves a few questions about this vision. ...

Well, let's look at what the author of the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence had to say:

"Our tenet ever was that Congress had not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but were restrained to those specifically enumerated, and that, as it was never meant that they should provide for that welfare but by the exercise of the enumerated powers, so it could not have been meant they should raise money for purposes which the enumeration did not place under their action; consequently, that the specification of powers is a limitation of the purposes for which they may raise money. ."
-- Thomas Jefferson letter to Albert Gallatin, 1817

"They are not to do anything they please to provide for the general welfare.... [G]iving a distinct and independent power to do any act they please which may be good for the Union, would render all the preceding and subsequent enumerations of power completely useless. It would reduce the whole instrument to a single phrase, that of instituting a Congress with power to do whatever would be for the good of the United States; and as they sole judges of the good or evil, it would be also a power to do whatever evil they please."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government."
--James Madison

"If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one...."
-- James Madison, letter to Edmund Pendleton, January 21, 1792

James Madison, the Father of the Constitution, elaborated upon this limitation in a letter to James Robertson:
With respect to the two words "general welfare," I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators. If the words obtained so readily a place in the "Articles of Confederation," and received so little notice in their admission into the present Constitution, and retained for so long a time a silent place in both, the fairest explanation is, that the words, in the alternative of meaning nothing or meaning everything, had the former meaning taken for granted.

In 1794, when Congress appropriated $15,000 for relief of French refugees who fled from insurrection in San Domingo to Baltimore and Philadelphia, James Madison stood on the floor of the House to object saying, "I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents."
-- James Madison, 4 Annals of congress 179 (1794)

"Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those specifically enumerated."
--Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Albert Gallatin, 1817

So, unless you really don't give a damn about the tennets that this country was founded upon and/or are truly pathetic and need your governmental wet-nurse/nanny, you cannot rightly support nationalized health-care or these "reforms!"

Who Poses the Greater Threat?

A MINORITY VIEW
BY WALTER WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3, 2010

Bill Gates is the world's richest person, but what kind of power does he have over you? Can he force your kid to go to a school you do not want him to attend? Can he deny you the right to braid hair in your home for a living? It turns out that a local politician, who might deny us the right to earn a living and dictates which school our kid attends, has far greater power over our lives than any rich person. Rich people can gain power over us, but to do so, they must get permission from our elected representatives at the federal, state or local levels. For example, I might wish to purchase sugar from a Caribbean producer, but America's sugar lobby pays congressmen hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions to impose sugar import tariffs and quotas, forcing me and every other American to purchase their more expensive sugar. ...

An interesting aside, the majority of those hated "rich" people are not conservative. When you look at their voting record, they overwhelmingly vote liberal.

I personally hope that he and the others follow Justice Thomas' lead and stop attending these shams. What the President did was absolutely inappropriate and classless. I would love to see him return for his senior year, but I'm realistic enough to know that, as good as he is, he'll be one of the top 2 or 3 player taken in the NBA draft. Coming back would be terrific, but would also be an enormous risk, especially considering his back injury earlier this season.

EU's 'carbon fat cats' get rich off trading scheme: study

Breitbart.com

Europe's system for industrial carbon quotas has enriched the continent's biggest polluters, with ten firms together reaping permits for 2008 alone worth 500 million euros, a new report revealed. ...

While we've got our hackles up over "corporate profiteering" in carbon offsets, let's not forget that ozone for brains, Al Gore, is now worth well north of $500,000,000 thanks to his carbon offset sales scam! Oh, and for the record, anybody that thinks companies are just going to sit back and let their profits be drained by these eco-scams is an idiot.

This Friday's 'Snow Job' Report

FOXBusiness.com

In advance of Friday's key reading on jobs, economists in the Obama administration are trying to lower expectations for the report, which will likely show a further decline in the nation’s payrolls. ...

This is awfully interesting considering they keep telling us what a great job they are doing with the economy and job creation. That anyone would believe that people with no real world private sector experience would have any clue how to create jobs is laughable. This administration has the smallest amount of people with legitimate private sector experience in the history of this country. It is populated with career bureaucrats and social engineering theoreticians. This starts at the top with a man who has about a 30 second career at a private law firm before becoming a community agitator.

Consumer Confidence Takes Biggest Hit in a Year

FOXBusiness.com

Confidence was shaken yet again by the labor picture, which has lagged behind the rest of the economy in recovering from the recession. Underscoring those worries, the present situation component of the report tumbled to 19.4 -- the lowest level since February 1983...

It's quite apparent that people in Washington DC, from the President and all his dorks to the dim bulbs on Capital Hill haven't got a clue what they are doing! The continued push of class warfare by the arrogant elitists on the left is nothing more than a tactic for them to cement their power and fatten their own pocketbooks.

Congressmen Say Toyota Misled Public About Recalls, Representatives Waxman and Stupak accuse automaker of relying on a flawed engineering report...

I would love to know how Congress gets around "conflict of interest" when the federal government is the majority owner of both General Motors and Chrysler?!

German protesters stop neo-Nazi march in Dresden

Yahoo! News

DRESDEN, Germany (Reuters) – At least 10,000 Germans formed a human chain in Dresden on Saturday and stopped neo-Nazis staging a funeral march to remember victims of the Allied air raid that flattened the city 65 years ago. ...

I do need to make one correction to this story. Nazi is short for NATIONAL SOCIALIST. Socialist are not on the right end of the political spectrum. They are on the left end! This continued misrepresentation of the center-right portion of the political spectrum is sad if not just plain crude. Once again a member of the Main Stream (or as Bernie Goldberg calls them, Lame Stream) Media miss-characterizes the right and slants a story to fit his agenda!

East Palo Alto cop takes heat for Facebook remarks

San Jose Mercury News

An East Palo Alto police detective is taking heat in online forums for allegedly posting comments from his Facebook account that advocate shooting Open Carry gun advocates. ...

As someone who has worked in law enforcement and plans to do so again, I am greatly offended by a fellow officer making such an uneducated and, clearly, stupid statement! A LAW ABIDING citizen carrying concealed or openly is not someone that I fear any harm from. The "turds" that he referenced are the ones that must be carefully watched. They are the ones that are going to try to hide in the dark crevasses and run whenever the light is shone upon them!

Maurice Clarett again seeks release from prison

ESPN.com

Clarett, who scored the winning touchdown for the Buckeyes in the 2002 national championship game, has filed a motion asking a judge to release him. No court date has been set. ...

He could have been the best runningback in the HISTORY of Ohio State. He had THAT MUCH talent. The problem, he had losers and leaches around him and he listened to them instead of coach Tressel. He was the classic case of an athlete with a million dollar body and ten cent brain!

Danica makes it official

Racing news - newsjournalonline.com

Brace yourself.

Danica Patrick, Round 2.

Yes, the feisty female driver from open-wheel racing enjoyed the stock-car experience so much that she decided to hang around another week at Daytona International Speedway. ...

I have REALLY grown weary of NASCAR and it's over blown hype machine! I am sick and tired of openwheel drivers feeling like they have to "jump up" to that level. Openwheel racing has, BY FAR, the best and most extensive driving requirements of ANY US based racing series, and at it's present level, I think it's better than F1. As I repeat on a regular basis, REAL RACE CAR DRIVERS DON'T NEED FENDERS OR A ROOF!!!

Versus: 'Not optimistic' DirecTV deal in place by playoffs

Puck Daddy - NHL Blog - Yahoo! Sports

Every week, we receive pleas from puckheads with DirecTV who are angry about missing NHL hockey because the satellite provider yanked the Versus network off its airwaves in September 2009. ...

I'm not so much worried about NHL coverage as I am the fact that Versus carries IndyCar. Being a DirecTV subscriber and having done some research into the subject, I put the blame on Versus (who just happens to be owned by Comcast, the largest cable provider in the country and DirecTV's biggest competetor) for the mess. Comcast is trying to damage DirecTV. All I can say is CABLE SUCKS! The only way I will EVER have cable again is if I have no other alternative.

Taxpayers pay $101,000 for Pelosi's in-flight 'food, booze'

Worldnetdaily.com

Part of the tab for alcoholic drinks on a congressional trip arranged by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi It reads like a dream order for some wild frat party: Maker's Mark whiskey, Courvoisier cognac, Johnny Walker Red scotch, Grey Goose vodka, E J brandy...

I don't believe in re-incarnation, but if there ever was a case for it I'd point to Ms Pelosi as the re-incarnation of Marie Antoinette. She truly has an arrogant, elitist, "let them eat cake" mind-set!

Justice Dept.: President Obama's administration may take action on BCS

NCAA Football - SI.com

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration is considering several steps that would review the legality of the controversial Bowl Championship Series, the Justice Department said in a letter Friday to a senator who had asked for an antitrust review. ...

Well, it would seem that the President and I have at least 1 belief in common, the FACT that DI-A college football needs to have a playoff system. If every other level of football (in this case, especially every other level of college football) can have a playoff, then so can DI-A! Oh, and if focusing on this diverts a bit of attention away from his otherwise socialist agenda, then all the better.

USATODAY.com

Tim Tebow, mom team up for pro-life Super Bowl ad

Christian Examiner Headline News

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Focus on the Family's Super Bowl ad featuring Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and his mother Pam won't air until Feb. 7, but it's already created plenty of buzz and even controversy. ...

Here's a little history lesson about Planned Parenthood and it's founder. Margaret Sanger, who founded the "American Birth Control League," which later became know as PLANNED PARENTHOOD was a believer in EUGENICS, believing in the use of "birth control" or in the most prominent case, abortion to further the "improvement" of the human race. Adolf Hitler got the idea for his "master race" from Ms. Sanger and eugenics. Eugenics is, "the study of or belief in the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population, esp. by such means as discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits (negative eugenics) or encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits (positive eugenics)." -- Dictionary.com. These "undesirable/negative traits" include Semitic and negri/BLACK racial characteristics or blood lines, as well as birth defects such as down syndrome. Knowing this, I find it astounding that many of the women speaking out against this ad in a prominent way (see O'Reilly, FoxNews and various other news reports on the subject, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, & pMSNBC) are BLACK or of Semitic decent. For any such person to put their support behind a group and a practice based on such a believe/philosophy is simply stupefying!

Blackguards – Media and ‘Justice'

Gang Up on Blackwater

Indictments by the Justice Department against five former security guards for Xe, the private-security firm and military contractor formerly known as Blackwater, were recently jettisoned by a D.C. district ...

I love this! The charges and trial were purely political and an effort to appease the radical anti-war left who does nothing but blame this country for all the worlds problems.
