» The Ominous ‘S-Word’ – Secession

Big Government

Our polarized society increasingly ponders what would happen if American conservatives and liberals simply agreed that their differences had become irreconcilable, and redivided the nation to go their separate ways. ...

This is not that big of a stretch!

Loving libs egg Teapary Express bus

I thought the libs were the tolerant, loving, understanding, Constitution protecting members of our society?! I also thought it was supposedly we conservatives who were the violent ones making threats against those we disagree with?! Let's compare, here is ACTUAL video of real and threatened violence by the left versus the ALLEGED threats and insults supposedly hurled at Democrat members of Congress by teaparty activists. There is NO evidence that any such activities took place, despite the fact that there were hundreds of video devices filming that day, including Jesse Jackson Jr. with 2 video phones in action. There is also a multi-thousand dollar reward being offered for any such evidence. To this point, NO ONE has been able to provide it!

The ObamaCare Writedowns

The corporate damage rolls in, and Democrats are shocked! - WSJ.com

It's been a banner week for Democrats: ObamaCare passed Congress in its final form on Thursday night, and the returns are already rolling in. Yesterday AT&T announced that it will be forced to make a $1 billion writedown due solely to the health bill, in what has become a wave of such corporate losses. ...

You have to love the irony. The Democrats have been preaching to us how great ObamaCare is going to be, but when companies start publicizing the truth about how they are going to be hurt economically, they start screaming bloody murder. They then proceed to start sending out subpoenas to them calling them before Congress to threaten them for telling the the truth! This is pure intimidation by the Democrats! If these corporate presidents had any testicular fortitude, they'd tell Waxman and Stupak "SCREW YOU, WE DON'T ANSWER TO YOU!"

AT&T Joins Growing List of Firms That Say Health Care Law Will Cut Into Their Profits

AT&T is the latest and biggest company to announce the costly impact that the health care overhaul will have on its bottom line. ...

Gee, who didn't see this coming?! Oh, that's right NOBODY, at least if you PAID ATTENTION to the warnings that the ACTUAL smart people, those on the right/conservatives, were giving. Now you'll hear even more dimwitted lefties cry foul and for more laws that push us even further into socialized, single payer, health care. I normally do not want to rush through spring and summer, but I cannot wait till November 2nd!

A Tyrannical Act

CNSNews.com

The day after the House approved the health care bill, a reporter asked White House spokesman Robert Gibbs about the lawsuits some states were threatening against the legislation on the grounds that the ...

Well, if you go by what the Founding Fathers said, it absolutely is unconstitutional. However, many of our judges clearly do not bother to look at what the founders said. They simply make it up to suit their own agenda. My hope and prayer is that this will be adjudicated properly, buy I'm not going to hold my breath, especially when we have Supreme Court justices who think foreign laws and traditions should be taken into consideration.

It seems that some of our European brethren have a stronger grip on the reality of the situation than many of our own citizens!

Talking Points vs. Realty

Thomas Sowell

In a swindle that would make Bernie Madoff look like an amateur, Barack Obama has gotten a substantial segment of the population to believe that he can add millions of people to the government-insured rolls without increasing the already record-breaking federal deficit. ...

Is Health Care a Right?

A MINORITY VIEW
BY WALTER WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10, 2010

Most politicians, and probably most Americans, see health care as a right. Thus, whether a person has the means to pay for medical services or not, he is nonetheless entitled to them. Let's ask ourselves a few questions about this vision. ...

Well, let's look at what the author of the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence had to say:

"Our tenet ever was that Congress had not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but were restrained to those specifically enumerated, and that, as it was never meant that they should provide for that welfare but by the exercise of the enumerated powers, so it could not have been meant they should raise money for purposes which the enumeration did not place under their action; consequently, that the specification of powers is a limitation of the purposes for which they may raise money. ."
-- Thomas Jefferson letter to Albert Gallatin, 1817

"They are not to do anything they please to provide for the general welfare.... [G]iving a distinct and independent power to do any act they please which may be good for the Union, would render all the preceding and subsequent enumerations of power completely useless. It would reduce the whole instrument to a single phrase, that of instituting a Congress with power to do whatever would be for the good of the United States; and as they sole judges of the good or evil, it would be also a power to do whatever evil they please."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government."
--James Madison

"If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one...."
-- James Madison, letter to Edmund Pendleton, January 21, 1792

James Madison, the Father of the Constitution, elaborated upon this limitation in a letter to James Robertson:
With respect to the two words "general welfare," I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators. If the words obtained so readily a place in the "Articles of Confederation," and received so little notice in their admission into the present Constitution, and retained for so long a time a silent place in both, the fairest explanation is, that the words, in the alternative of meaning nothing or meaning everything, had the former meaning taken for granted.

In 1794, when Congress appropriated $15,000 for relief of French refugees who fled from insurrection in San Domingo to Baltimore and Philadelphia, James Madison stood on the floor of the House to object saying, "I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents."
-- James Madison, 4 Annals of congress 179 (1794)

"Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those specifically enumerated."
--Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Albert Gallatin, 1817

So, unless you really don't give a damn about the tennets that this country was founded upon and/or are truly pathetic and need your governmental wet-nurse/nanny, you cannot rightly support nationalized health-care or these "reforms!"

Church Fights Back After Arizona Town Bans Home Bible Study

GILBERT, Ariz. — The national Alliance Defense Fund says a town code that bars religious assemblies in private homes in the Arizona community of Gilbert is unconstitutional. ...

I am truly dumbfounded that this would happen in this country! By the way, I notice the ACLU, who claims to be the protector of the Constitution, didn't come to their aid. I'd say I'm surprised by that, but I most definitely would be lying if I did.

Who Poses the Greater Threat?

A MINORITY VIEW
BY WALTER WILLIAMS
RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3, 2010

Bill Gates is the world's richest person, but what kind of power does he have over you? Can he force your kid to go to a school you do not want him to attend? Can he deny you the right to braid hair in your home for a living? It turns out that a local politician, who might deny us the right to earn a living and dictates which school our kid attends, has far greater power over our lives than any rich person. Rich people can gain power over us, but to do so, they must get permission from our elected representatives at the federal, state or local levels. For example, I might wish to purchase sugar from a Caribbean producer, but America's sugar lobby pays congressmen hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions to impose sugar import tariffs and quotas, forcing me and every other American to purchase their more expensive sugar. ...

An interesting aside, the majority of those hated "rich" people are not conservative. When you look at their voting record, they overwhelmingly vote liberal.

Bob Shallit: IRS visits Sacramento carwash in pursuit of 4 cents

Sacramento Business, Housing Market News | Sacramento Bee

... Arriving at Harv's Metro Car Wash in midtown Wednesday afternoon were two dark-suited IRS agents demanding payment of delinquent taxes. "They were deadly serious, very aggressive, very condescending," says Harv's owner, Aaron Zeff. ...

Is it any wonder people hate the IRS?! Never mind for a minute the heavy handed thuggery, think of how much of OUR tax dollars were just spent to collect 4 CENTS! Anybody that would justify these type of actions by bureaucrats within our government needs to seriously contemplate why they are living in this country, or they need to do some serious review of the Constitution and what our Founding Fathers had to say about such things. They most certainly would NOT tolerate this! To be clear, it is EXACTLY what they fought against!

'Very troubling': Chief Justice Roberts on Obama's court criticism to joint session of Congress

Top of the Ticket | Los Angeles Times

Democrat president criticized a court ruling during his State of the Union with justices a few feet away unable to respond. ...

I personally hope that he and the others follow Justice Thomas' lead and stop attending these shams. What the President did was absolutely inappropriate and classless. It was the act of a petulant child who didn't get his way. It was further expounded by the uncouth actions of the Democrat members of Congress who stood and jubilantly applauded while glaring at the Justices. These actions are not the actions of thoughtful and reasoned individuals. They are the actions of arrogant, condescending jerks who only know how to bully their opponents.

Obama moving to limit fishing access

ESPN

AP/Luis M. Alvarez
One sign at the United We Fish rally at the Capital summed up the feelings of recreational and commercial fishermen.

..."In spite of what we hear daily in the press about the President's concern for jobs and the economy and contrary to what he stated in the June order creating this process, we have seen no evidence from NOAA or the task force that recreational fishing and related jobs are receiving any priority."...

If this doesn't illustrate that the man and his henchmen are out to dictate as much of our lives as they possibly can then I don't know what will! The man is a SOCIALIST, plain and simple! I will make EVERYONE this promise, I WILL NOT STOP FISHING AND I WILL NOT BE PUSHED AROUND AND HAVE MY LIFE AND PURSUITS DICTATED BY HIM OF ANY OF HIS NAZI'S!!!

Player of the year candidate Evan Turner a success story at Ohio State

cleveland.com

..."When a lot of players around the country were out having a good time, I was working," Turner said. "Leaving the gym feeling I got better, that's the best thing in the world. It was like therapy to me." ...

Anybody that says that John Wall's the Player of the Year is simply following the UK "rebirth" hype-wagon! Evan Turner is CLEARLY the best player in college basketball. Just look at his stats and what he means to his team. Nobody else comes close! I would love to see him return for his senior year, but I'm realistic enough to know that, as good as he is, he'll be one of the top 2 or 3 player taken in the NBA draft. Coming back would be terrific, but would also be an enormous risk, especially considering his back injury earlier this season.

EU's 'carbon fat cats' get rich off trading scheme: study

Breitbart.com

Europe's system for industrial carbon quotas has enriched the continent's biggest polluters, with ten firms together reaping permits for 2008 alone worth 500 million euros, a new report revealed. ...

While we've got our hackles up over "corporate profiteering" in carbon offsets, let's not forget that ozone for brains, Al Gore, is now worth well north of $500,000,000 thanks to his carbon offset sales scam! Oh, and for the record, anybody that thinks companies are just going to sit back and let their profits be drained by these eco-scams is an idiot.

This Friday's 'Snow Job' Report

FOXBusiness.com

In advance of Friday's key reading on jobs, economists in the Obama administration are trying to lower expectations for the report, which will likely show a further decline in the nation’s payrolls. ...

This is awfully interesting considering they keep telling us what a great job they are doing with the economy and job creation. That anyone would believe that people with no real world private sector experience would have any clue how to create jobs is laughable. This administration has the smallest amount of people with legitimate private sector experience in the history of this country. It is populated with career bureaucrats and social engineering theoreticians. This starts at the top with a man who has about a 30 second career at a private law firm before becoming a community agitator.
