Parting Company

A MINORITY VIEW

BY WALTER WILLIAMS

RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 2009

Texas Gov. Rick Perry rattled cages when he suggested that Texans might at some point become so disgusted with Washington's gross violation of the U.S. Constitution that they would want to secede from the union. Political hustlers, their media allies and others, who have little understanding, are calling his remarks treasonous. Let's look at it.

When New York delegates met on July 26, 1788, their ratification document read, "That the Powers of Government may be resumed by the People, whensoever it shall become necessary to their Happiness; that every Power, Jurisdiction and right which is not by the said Constitution clearly delegated to the Congress of the United States, or the departments of the government thereof, remains to the People of the several States, or to their respective State Governments to whom they may have granted the same..."

A truly thought provoking article by Dr. Williams. Being a big believer in states rights I am in total agreement with Dr. Williams. Some may say this was settled by the Civil War, but when I look at what the Founders said I say, yes it has been settled, but not how most would say.

Despite Reports, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed Was Not Waterboarded 183 Times

Presidential Politics | Political News - FOXNews.com

The number of times Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was waterboarded was the focus of major media attention -- and highly misleading.

By Joseph Abrams

FOXNews.com

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

The New York Times reported last week that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, was waterboarded 183 times in one month by CIA interrogators. The "183 times" was widely circulated by news outlets throughout the world.

It was shocking. And it was highly misleading. The number is a vast inflation, according to information from a U.S. official and the testimony of the terrorists themselves...

...The Times and dozens of other outlets wrote that the CIA also waterboarded senior Al Qaeda member Abu Zubaydah 83 times, but Zubayda himself, a close associate of Usama bin Laden, told the Red Cross he was waterboarded no more than 10 times...

Seems that the NY Times, once again, can't get its facts correct. The paper that was once "the nations paper of record" has become nothing more than cheap bird cage liner. Only libs who want to APPEAR intellectual and thoughtful and be part of the "in crowd" subscribe to this rag. I doubt if even they really read much if any of the crap in it. The Old Grey Lady will soon be The Dead Grey Lady.

Perez Hilton: The Foul Face of ‘Gay’ Activism

CNSNews.com -The RightNews, Right Now

Friday, April 24, 2009

Warning: This article contains graphic but accurate material that may be offensive to some readers.

You may have heard. During Sunday’s Miss USA pageant openly “gay” activist and pageant judge Perez Hilton – the self-styled “Queen of Media” – ambushed Carrie Prejean – the openly Christian Miss California – with a politically loaded question on so-called “same-sex marriage.” Prejean’s candid answer – as both Hilton and Miss USA organizer Donald Trump later admitted – likely cost her the crown.

From the moment she opened her mouth, Prejean has given liberals a clinic in class. Hilton, on the other hand (a.k.a. Mario Armando Lavandeira), has provided the world a sneak peek into the soul of homosexual activism...

...This whole hateful affair provides the perfect metaphor for the current divide between defenders of traditional sexual morality and the extremist “queer” activist movement. As Congress debates the constructive repeal of both the Fourteenth Amendment guarantee of “equal protection under the law” and the First Amendment guarantees of free speech and freedom of religion through passage of discriminatory and wholly unnecessary “hate crimes” legislation, this little episode once again reminds us that the self-described champions of “tolerance” and “diversity” are the most intolerant and hateful among us...

Ms. Prejean is the type of lady that, if I had I daughter, I'd point to as someone to admire and look up to! As the writer of this article stated, she has been total class through out this. Those opposing what she said have been totally classless!

Report: Democrats Refuse to Allow Skeptic to Testify Alongside Gore At Congressional Hearing

'House Democrats don't want Gore humiliated'

Climate Depot Exclusive - Updated

Washington, DC -- UK's Lord Christopher Monckton, a former science advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, claimed House Democrats have refused to allow him to appear alongside former Vice President Al Gore at a high profile global warming hearing on Friday April 24, 2009 at 10am in Washington. Monckton told Climate Depot that the Democrats rescinded his scheduled joint appearance at the House Energy and Commerce hearing on Friday. Monckton said he was informed that he would not be allowed to testify alongside Gore when his plane landed from England Thursday afternoon.

“The House Democrats don't want Gore humiliated, so they slammed the door of the Capitol in my face,” Monckton told Climate Depot in an exclusive interview. “They are cowards...”

I've said it many times, Al Gore has ozone for brains! The man puts out a nonsensical book(yes, I've read it and it's incredibly easy to blow holes in, which MANY people have) and a nonsensical movie and people fall all over themselves to laud the garbage, without thinking or exposing them to any serious examination.

If Gore is so sure and confident of his position, then why is he such a coward and refuses to publicly debate someone with an opposing perspective? I say there are 2 reasons. One, he knows that he will get crushed and he can't allow that to happen. That would lead to reason two, his house of cards would come crashing down. He would be exposed for the fraud he is!

'Open hostility' toward execs over MSNBC's 'leftward tilt'

By Paul Bond

April 22, 2009, 06:38 PM ET

Things got testy Wednesday at the GE shareholders meeting courtesy of several complaints about political bias at its media division, NBC Universal...

...First up was a woman asking about a reported meeting in which Immelt and NBC Uni CEO Jeff Zucker supposedly told top CNBC executives and talent to be less critical of President Obama and his policies...

...During the woman's follow-up question, her microphone was cut off. Later, during the umpteenth question about MSNBC, another shareholder's microphone was cut, according to multiple attendees...

I wish I'd have been there! I would have loved to have seen this take place. Immelt is a leftwing hack and an Obama toady. He was appointed to some commission by BHO as repayment for NBC's unquestioning support during the election. When you look at his pathetic leadership, it's no wonder that NBC is a distant third in network ratings and fading, their cable nets(especially PMSnbc) are getting crushed and GE's stock is in the toilet.

NBC is Pathetic!

People complain about Foxnews, but give the Peacock a pass. NBC has quite literally become Pravda(if you're uneducated and don't know what this is, LOOK IT UP!) for the Obama Administration.

Democracy and Majority Rule

A MINORITY VIEW

BY WALTER E. WILLIAMS

RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 2009 AND THEREAFTER

Democracy and majority rule give an aura of legitimacy to acts that would otherwise be deemed tyranny. Think about it. How many decisions in our day-to-day lives would we like to be made through majority rule or the democratic process? How about the decision whether you should watch a football game on television or "Law and Order"? What about whether you drive a Chevrolet or a Ford, or whether your Easter dinner is turkey or ham? Were such decisions made in the political arena, most of us would deem it tyranny. Why isn't it also tyranny for the democratic process to mandate what type of light bulbs we use, how many gallons of water to flush toilets or whether money should be taken out of our paycheck for retirement?

The founders of our nation held a deep abhorrence for democracy and majority rule. In Federalist Paper No. 10, James Madison wrote, "Measures are too often decided, not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor party, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority." John Adams predicted, "Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There was never a democracy yet that did not commit suicide." Our founders intended for us to have a republican form of limited government where the protection of individual God-given rights was the primary job of government...

Sadly, a great many people in this country, as viewed by who is now in elected office, either don't know or don't care what our Founding Fathers said. Many of those that don't care think that way because they believe they are smarter than the Founders, or have convinced themselves that, despite what they wrote, the Founders would do it differently today.

We also have not had leaders often enought, during the last 100 years, that stood up for limited government and preservation of our God-given rights! The progressivist ideas that began seeping in to the government during Presidents Teddy Roosevelt's and Woodrow Willson's terms have taken firm root in and been expanded by the Democrats and the left.

Georgetown Says It Covered Over Name of Jesus to Comply With White House Request

CNSNews.com -The RightNews, Right Now

Wednesday, April 15, 2009
By Edwin Mora

Georgetown University says it covered over the monogram “IHS”--symbolizing the name of Jesus Christ—because it was inscribed on a pediment on the stage where President Obama spoke at the university on Tuesday and the White House had asked Georgetown to cover up all signs and symbols there.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the “IHS” monogram that had previously adorned the stage at Georgetown’s Gaston Hall was still covered up--when the pediment where it had appeared was photographed by CNSNews.com...

The Inspirtation Behind The Tea Party Movement

Mr. Santelli put voice to what many of us feel. His statement that we need a new tea party, a-la the Boston Tea Party, was the impetus behind this movement. Whether the likes of PMSnbc, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, the NY Times, et. al. want to consider them grassroots movements or not, they most certainly are.

They/We also are not just a bunch of "angry white people" who don't like Obama. I say "we" because I have attended both events in Cincinnati, including the one today. I saw people from all walks of life. I saw men, women, various ethnic and racial groups, and people from all income levels.

The people there were, except for a hand full of agitators, unanimous in their disapproval of the way our governments, at all levels, is spending our money and the recklessness with which it's being done. The "anger" is at the fiscal irresponsibility by our elected officials(that includes President Bush). It's time that ALL levels of government stop spending money that they don't have and live within financial constraints like everyone else has to!

If you would like to see pictures of todays Cincinnati Tea Party click on my facebook link to the right. All you have to do, once you get to my facebook page, is click on one of the pics and it will take you to the picture album containing pictures from the Tea Party today and last month.

Federal agency warns of radicals on right

Washington Times

9-page report sent to police

By (Contact) and (Contact) | Tuesday, April 14, 2009

The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement officials about a rise in "rightwing extremist activity," saying the economic recession, the election of America's first black president and the return of a few disgruntled war veterans could swell the ranks of white-power militias.

A footnote attached to the report by the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines "rightwing extremism in the United States" as including not just racist or hate groups, but also groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.

"It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration," the warning says...

I guess I'm a "rightwing extremist." This is disgusting! This administration, or should I say "regime," is trying to marginalize anyone that doesn't agree with it. What's most astonishing is the statement in the report that "returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to right-wing extremists."

This is unacceptable. Wanting the 9th and 10th Amendments of the Constitution applied and followed is not extreme! Being a strict constructionist is not extreme! Believing in freedom and this nation as constructed by our Founding Fathers is not extreme!

The extremists are those who want to silence those who do not agree with them!

Government Deception

A MINORITY VIEW

BY WALTER E. WILLIAMS

RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8, 2009 AND THEREAFTER

Most Americans accept the continuing attack on tobacco companies and smokers, but how do they feel about the massive government deception? In 1998, 46 state attorneys general and major tobacco companies signed the Master Settlement Agreement. The major tobacco companies agreed, among other things, to give states $240 billion over 25 years to provide for smoking cessation programs and cover the health costs associated with using their product. In return state attorneys general promised tobacco companies that they wouldn't sue them and would use their lawmaking power to protect the major tobacco companies from competition from small tobacco companies. Of the $80 billion extorted so far, states have spent about 30 percent on health, not all tobacco-related, and less than 6 percent on smoking cessation programs. Instead, state legislatures spent the bulk of their tobacco money for items such as museum building, tax relief, rainy-day funds and other expenditures having nothing to do with tobacco or health.

The U.S. Congress' deception was, and continues to be, a major player in our financial meltdown. In congressional hearings, before the meltdown, on the soundness of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Rep. Maxine Waters said, "Through nearly a dozen hearings, we were frankly trying to fix something that wasn't broke. Mr. Chairman, we do not have a crisis at Freddie Mac, and particularly at Fannie Mae, under the outstanding leadership of Franklin Raines." Rep. Barney Frank, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee, said, "These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis. The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing." Other congressmen gave similar assurances. Unfortunately for our nation, the forces pushing for "affordable" housing won the day and saddled us with today's unprecedented financial disaster. How stupid is it of us to ask those who brought us "affordable" housing to now turn their attention to bringing us "affordable" health care?...

To rely on government for anything is absurd! It is each individuals responsibility to meet their own needs, unless they are truly disabled and totally incapable of providing for themselves. Then it is our responsibility as individual citizens to help these people through charitable giving. When they are told just go to the government and get what you need the individual citizens shirk their responsibility to these people.

By the way, statistics show that conservatives are far more charitable in their giving than are liberals. It must be asked then, who really are the "selfish" of our society?

Reds change guard

Cincinnati Enquirer | Cincinnati.Com

By John Fay • jfay@enquirer.com • April 5, 2009

The Reds will have a lot of new faces in the lineup on Opening Day. For the first time since 2001, neither Ken Griffey Jr. nor Adam Dunn will be there to start the season.

For good or ill, Griffey and Dunn were the faces of this franchise. It was mostly ill: The Reds haven't had a winning season since 2000. The club decided to change course last summer, trading away both Griffey and Dunn.

So who will be the new and future faces of the franchise?...

I am really looking forward to watching these young guys play. I think they are excited to be here and want to win, badly. Though I did enjoy watching Dunn and Griffey I questioned whether they truly wanted it badly enough or were content to be where they were.

I don't know if this team will be the "next Tampa Bay" or not, but I do believe that they are going to play hard and give it their all.

Obama Wants to Control the Banks

There's a reason he refuses to accept repayment of TARP money.

By STUART VARNEY

I must be naive. I really thought the administration would welcome the return of bank bailout money. Some $340 million in TARP cash flowed back this week from four small banks in Louisiana, New York, Indiana and California. This isn't much when we routinely talk in trillions, but clearly that money has not been wasted or otherwise sunk down Wall Street's black hole. So why no cheering as the cash comes back?

My answer: The government wants to control the banks, just as it now controls GM and Chrysler, and will surely control the health industry in the not-too-distant future. Keeping them TARP-stuffed is the key to control. And for this intensely political president, mere influence is not enough. The White House wants to tell 'em what to do. Control. Direct. Command...

This is exactly what socialism is and what people like myself warned against during the election. He and his sycophants want to control every aspect of the economy and determine who gets to make good. Hugo Chavez and the Castro Brothers in Cuba couldn't do it any better. I'm sure they are loving watching every minute of this too!

Our Problem Is Immorality

A MINORITY VIEW

BY WALTER E. WILLIAMS

RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 2009 AND THEREAFTER

Most of our nation's great problems, including our economic problems, have as their root decaying moral values. Whether we have the stomach to own up to it or not, we have become an immoral people left with little more than the pretense of morality. You say, "That's a pretty heavy charge, Williams. You'd better be prepared to back it up with evidence!" I'll try with a few questions for you to answer.

Do you believe that it is moral and just for one person to be forcibly used to serve the purposes of another? And, if that person does not peaceably submit to being so used, do you believe that there should be the initiation of some kind of force against him? Neither question is complex and can be answered by either a yes or no. For me the answer is no to both questions but I bet that your average college professor, politician or minister would not give a simple yes or no response. They would be evasive and probably say that it all depends...

There are absolutes, black and white, right and wrong! Moral absolutes do exist. Our founding documents are based on this belief.

House Republicans Call for Stimulus Repeal in Budget Plan

Presidential Politics | Political News - FOXNews.com

House Republicans are calling for the economic stimulus package passed in February to be rescinded starting in 2010 as part of their alternative to President Obama's budget blueprint...

...The GOP plan also proposes major changes to the tax code. It would allow taxpayers to either file under the current system or choose a simpler option: Individuals earning $50,000 or less, and couples earning $100,000 or less, would be taxed at 10 percent. The rate for income above $100,000 would be 25 percent...

I, personally, favor the Fair Tax proposal. It is the best proposal that I have seen. Among it's plans is the repeal of the 16th Amendment and the institution of a sales/consumption tax. I definitely recommend that, if you haven't already investigated it, you should look into the Fair Tax.
