Persistent rain pushes back Pole Day qualifying schedule

Persistent rain and cold temperatures at Indianapolis Motor Speedway have set back practice before WorldPoints Visa Card Pole Day Qualifying.

Weather permitting, qualifications are scheduled from noon-6 p.m. (EDT), with the first 11 positions for the 90th Indianapolis 500 up for grabs. A field that includes six former 500-Mile Race winners and four rookies is looking to qualify. Rain also forced race officials to cancel "Fast Friday" practice...

Well, here we go again. Rain is playing havoc with Indy 500 Pole day qualifying. So, we sit and wait, and hope that, maybe, just maybe it clears off and warms up enough to get at least a little action in.

Rain washes out first-day qualifying; first 22 spots up for grabs May 14

When “Damp Cam” is shown a dozen times on the billboard video screens, you know that rainy days and Saturdays don’t mix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The weather system that has hovered over the historic facility for the better part of the week disrupted WorldPoints Visa Card Pole Day Qualifying, pushing back the four-lap, 10-mile procedure to May 14 (noon-6 p.m. EDT, preceded by three practice sessions). The first 22 positions will be up for grabs...

Well, I guess we wait till tomorrow and hope that this stuff moves out!
